None of us wants to be the person who delivers boring presentations that put people to sleep. In this video I'll share with you simple techniques to give your PowerPoint presentation a perfect flow to captivate your audience and keep them engaged.
Join 400,000+ professionals in our courses here 👉 link.xelplus.com/yt-d-all-cou...
Creating great PowerPoint slides doesn't have to be difficult if you follow a few simple rules and some guidelines.
Use Roadmaps instead of a table of contents in your PowerPoint presentations
Use Infographics to indicate the progress that was made in the presentation. This way the audience knows where the end is and which remaining topics they can expect to learn from you.
Put Essential text only on slide and use a supporting Infographic or Roadmap
It's practical for you as the presenter to have everything you want to say on a slide. But the audience can't read the text on a crowded slide and listen to you at the same time. This will draw their attention away from you, the presenter.
Take advantage of the Reuse Slides Feature in PowerPoint
Avoid copying and pasting slides if you want to use slides from an existing presentation. Instead apply Reuse Slides from the Home tab in PowerPoint. It's faster and safer!

Leila, I've been teaching the Microsoft Office applications for over 20 years to students in higher education, and now, in my retirement, I'm working with high school students. After all these years and thousands of lessons and exams, I learn something new from you almost every time I watch one of your videos. When I have a student struggling with a concept or skill, I have them watch your presentation on that skill and they nearly always have that "Aha" moment teachers love to see. Thanks for all you do!

Took your advice - got recognized by global leadership. I recently had to prepare a overview showcasing a program I’ve been building to enable sales teams. Long story short, a conference of 200+ people went so well that word got up to the tops of the business and I think it’s about to help me secure my next position because other parts of the business now want to implement. People were really impressed with the look and delivery. Thank you, seriously.

I have said this before, but I think it is worth saying again - Excellent presentation and video. I have spent the better part of a month checking out all of your videos about Excel, PowerPoint, Windows, even your Finance videos. All of them are great! I have signed up for your Excel Training course and I am currently about 50% complete. I can not say enough good things about your work. You have the ability to explain procedures, techniques, and concepts in such a way that they are easy to understand and remember. I really appreciate all you are doing. You are truly a Master of Education, regardless of the topic. Thank you.

Leila, I am a university educator, and this year you SAVED MY LIFE. It is very difficult to keep students engaged through lectures on Zoom, and I never know if they fall asleep if their camera is off. Your tips have helped me make engaging slides quickly, and my students always give me positive feedback, which tells me they are following along. Please, keep posting videos on presentations and PowerPoints!

Great tips, Leila. Besides well designed layout, graphics and structure for a presentation I would like to add another proven base rule for PPTs - it‘s called 10 - 20 - 30, which means maximum 10 slides per 20 minutes with no less than 30 points font size for text. Thus as a presenter I am forced not to REPEAT the slides‘ contents but to EXPLAIN them. Which in turn keeps up the attention of the audience.

This is some awesome information thanks fro sharing. A few years ago i managed a movie theatre and we had monthly employee meetings. Most of my employees were teenagers and keeping them engaged was a hard task. What I found to also work well was adding trivia questions with pictures or small video clips during the presentation. This kept them from reaching for their phones due to boredom. I also chose different background images with bright colors on each topic slide to keep them expecting something new to look forward to. I miss my time there.

Worth mentioning that it is very affordable.. even their premium access.. a one time (reasonable) fee for the entire library and perpetual updates. And, there are less expensive options for those satisfied with more limited access. Save time and leverage off the creativity and consistency offered in this product.. seems like a killer deal to me. I am an architect and environmental consultant. I have always attempted to use visual images photos & graphs (I'm a visual guy!) and limited the use of text or lists and never just "read" out the text of any slide. Why listen to the presenter when you can just read the slide? I am a passionate speaker so I wanted to "add" to the information on the slide to enhance its intended meeting. However, the organization of the topics towards a holistic goal has always been challenging. I like this visual "roadmap" idea and will check to simpleslides. Thank you for another great video:)

My two cents ... I have been a "fan" for quite a while and frequently visit, revisit (and revisit again) instructional videos on both your KZread channel and main website. Your delivery, clarity and content is 'always' excellent. I have forwarded your KZread channel and XelPlus webpage to dozens of people. Your general design advice in many of your videos is to "keep it simple" (i.e. tables, charts and visualizations). The recurring theme in "Visualization Secrets" is, "... keep it 'simple' … keep it 'clear' … keep it 'consistent'. So … diplomatically and respectfully … it is with some trepidation that I point out that recent presentations seem to have drifted a bit from that advice by using distracting set locations. The earlier presentations were focused on the "Essential Leila" presenting the material. But recently the different settings divert my attention and I start looking around the background … what is that next to the lamp? … what is on the table? … what is on the bookshelf? The videos from a few years ago was simply the "Essential Leila" … no frills, no other enhancements were necessary. The Essential Leila is simply the best … IMHO. Unsolicited comments to be sure … but to be VERY clear, I remain a HUGE fan … your work is unparalleled … and so VERY much appreciated.

I guess I just got tired of seeing myself in front of a white background all the time. And it's KZread, so it should be a bit entertaining as well. My courses will remain focused on the essentials without frills. But point taken. In the end I make the videos for you and my audience and if the settings come across as too distracting we'll dial it down a bit. Thank you for taking the time to comment and I really appreciate your ongoing support! 😘

@@LeilaGharani - " … I guess I just got tired of seeing myself in front of a white background all the time....". Candidly, I did not think about that. But for me I liked the consistency of delivery … and focus on presentation. " … And it's KZread, so it should be a bit entertaining as well...." You are plenty entertaining with your "own" style. Waaaay to many of your competitors (weak competitors) are into their own self-promotion (not the material) … and try to be funny … try to act zany … play 'dress-up' … think their delivery is clever … and it all falls flat. For your material, viewers tune in for content … and you deliver that superbly. To be clear … I love … love … love your work … time … time and time again.

Leila, thanks for the interesting video. You have given me a good idea about how to make my slides interesting for students. Do you have any videos about how to gamify a Powerpoint presentation?

Hi Leila (yellow bird :-) Nice video as usual. Processional intro location. Warm and atmospheric. As you know I was also (just like Jim Fikes) a MS Office trainer for about 29 years by New Horizons. It turns out to be a glorification to watch your videos. Regards, Leo, Rotterdam.

These are great tips! Thank you. I went ahead and purchased the Simple Slides, hoping to find 3 of the ones you show in this video and I can't find them anywhere. They are the pencil graphic you show with "Steps to becoming smart" and the target with heading "Steps to Merge Target" and the road & symbols with heading "Mastering Excel Dynamic Arrays". Where do I find those 3 graphics?

Leila, I love your videos. I check out almost all your videos without fail the moment it hits my inbox... So I say this as a huge fan of your content - this video felt like an extended ad, rather than the usual world class content your videos are. Don't get me wrong. I understand why you need to do this. I'm simply disappointed to see so much of the video time spent promoting a sponsor. That said, as always, I look forward to your next video. Cheers! :)

Thanks for your feedback. We just really like the templates and use them a lot since we found them. Maybe we've gone overboard but not because we needed to promote but because we actually think they are really useful. Sorry, if it came across differently. Thank you for your ongoing support!

Hi Leila, it would surely be help if you shared how you created this video or your videos. You used multiple shot views from frontal to 1/4 side views. Likely you had multiple cameras, even a camera person. I believe you used a teleprompter. Please show us how you create your teaching videos. Thanks.

Hi Leila. Thanks for such excellent PowerPoint content. Would be great if you can share some ideas on Excel to PowerPoint link management hell that business users like us have been going through since ages with no listening from Microsoft. The paid add-ins like Upslide, Macabacus are so much expensive. I could not find any other useful add-ins for Excel - PowerPoint link management (Edit/Change/Update Links) :(
