Glad you mentioned air quality. We leave for about 3 months every year because of it. The forecast is for the number of acres that burn in Oregon to double by the end of the century. We might get lucky for a few years here and there but the problem is not going to get better over the long run.

I think you hit all the right points. This is my third time living in OR (two other times were in the Valley) but the first time for my husband. He is blown away at how mellow and nice everything is around here and even over in the Valley. The only thing that caught my attention is that Bend is actually at over 3,600 feet elevation, and depending what part of town you live in, possibly a bit higher.

Ha, i didn't even realize i said that, I'm not sure why I said 3k and not 3,500. (that's the easy rough number that's well known) Must have just been in the zone and not listening to myself talk lol. 😉 Thanks for the comment, and for pointing that out.

I think you understate how much snow we get here. I’ve been here for four years and every year has had at least one major snow storm with feet of snow.

You didnt mention access to great roller hockey. That's a relocation requirement for a lot of people I know.

The Eviron-mentalist stopped the controlled burns and did away with the logging roads etc, and this is why there is more fire. More damage then when forest rangers took care of the forest.

They still have controlled burns. Are you saying they don't do as many as they used to?
