You can see in her body language on that first putt that she's telling herself it's not a difficult putt, just nonchalant it in, don't think about it or it'll get in your head. (I know because I do the same thing with zero pressure on me).

Well fortunately, this comment hasnt aged well haha. Im so glad to see Cat get her putting game on track now, having also won the 2021 Worlds. I was so tired of Paige winning most tournaments with 5+ strokes and not really anybody giving her competition. Now, with Tattar back on card (Im also Estonian so Im a bit biased towards her haha) and Cat having her game, we are probably going to see much more competition in FPO.

I know right? I mean we’ve all been there but damn....i’m not on tour but I play my share of tourneys and I rarely ever 3 putt....not even in 45mph winds. 3/4 of the vid is her whiffing putts from 20 or closer.

I've found myself yelling at the screen during a tournament "Slow Down!". When we wiff a simple putt at our local course we call it a "Catrina putt". But in tournaments when she focused, her putting can be really good.

& she’s on a $500k 4-year contract with Dynamic Discs. Not to mention all those Bushnell commercials. The FPO field is so much weaker than it should be. Physical differences between men and women don’t account for the top FPO players missing 10 footers every tournament. It’ll get there one day.

I love when Kona looks back to find the person that is missing her putts.

Ugh... so relatable. I wrote “putting is easy” on my mini as like a mantra to try and manage stress before a big putt. Putting is so mental. I never used to have a routine.. just kind went with whatever felt good at the time but slowing down, doing the same things each time really helps manage nerves.

Don't know what is worse all of Catrina's putts or kona doing the same horseshoe side putt over and over.

Kind of a hindsight 20/20 reply but at the time Kona was dealing with undiagnosed thyroid cancer. Now she’s back after a pretty major surgery and she’s still not doing 100%, but i think she gets a lot of hate because she got that big contract. It’s hard enough to compete when you’re feeling good, but she was competing while sick, then competing when she knew she had cancer and didn’t tell anyone, and is now competing after coming off a major surgery to remove said cancer. Even if she’s finishing in the bottom of the pack, idk why people are hating on her now. If you look at where she was playing at a high level vs where she is at this moment, it pretty clearly coordinates with her illness. I think she will bounce back and be competitive, but unfortunately it seems like cancer isn’t an easy illness to just jump back from.

It's kind of annoying how the FPO commentators sugar coat everything. I know they're all friends and don't want to hurt any feelings but I wish they would sometimes just come out and say "that was a bad attempt"

The best part is she knows it’s her weakness. When quarantine hit, she said she changed her putting and had it down. Then her first tournament back at ddo she took a 3 putt and a 4 putt 😂😂😂 I can’t imagine being a pro and everyone watching me at 10 feet expecting a miss sometimes 😂

The single biggest problem with Cat’s game is that she thinks she has a tap in WAYYY further out than her putting actually allows.

Even if you are friend of the competitor, you should not just make up shit. Did commentators for the NBA say that Shaq usually made his free throws? No... Catrina is a great player and her putting has become more solid this year that I've seen her play but she is still bad at it compared to most of her peers and lack behind in distance and accuracy.

Facts. Much of the FPO commentary, in my experience watching, it has the commentators "rooting" for the competitors more often than objectively giving a play-by-play analysis.

the ass kissing on the FPO side is just ridiculous. dunno why we can't just call it like we see it instead of being apologists for their consistently terrible putting. they're supposed to be "elite" players and consistently have circle putting percentages that would be near dead-last on the MPO side.

Spot-on. Commentators on the ladies side often say "that's uncharacteristic of her". If you do it enough times, it IS characteristic.

1:24 is just bizarre. I can't believe that actually happened.

There were putts they left out of Catrina's as well. I can think of 1 here at the BSF in Oregon.

You could see that 4-jack choke coming in the women's PDGA - the two holes prior she had very easy putts and almost air-balled them, barely catching a chain and dropping in.

Kona 6 putting was one of a kind. I hope her new style of putting will eliminate those situations.

Not sure why concentrating on Cat so much. Yeah she's not a great putter but im sure there are many clips of other pros making bad putts. For the truly tragic, check out the 2014 las vegas gentlemans club fpo round 1 video. Poor Kelsey Wilmerding really crashes and burns.

@@colinswift8373 yeah that's what I'm saying. I'm a big Paige Pierce fan, but Cat is always there with Paige, even doing stuff like this. If Catrina ever fixes her short game there wont be much Paige will be able to do about it.

I feel like Catrina has a true case of the yips. If her putting were even just average she would have more world championships and tournament wins under her belt. Her drives and approaches are arguably the best.

This hurts, but what a great reminder that the best have their off-days

I noticed, when Kona missed, she kept missing right, and when she pulled back, her hand went from her center, to her right leg, so she was priming herself to miss right.

In 2020, there was a string of tournaments that Cat was ahead but on hole 17, she ended up 3 or 4 putting and losing the lead. I remember watching the second time it happened and I was like, woah deja vu. Then it happened the third time and it's like, okay come on.

Cat is so interesting. She’s a bad putter from basically 30 in. But for some reason, from like 40-60 she is surprisingly good

as a pro I would expect to never miss metal...very surprising, and humanizing seeing this.

As Catrina is one of my favorite players, I knew this video was not going to be easy to watch. Even with her putting woes she is still amazing, she is a whirlwind when she is on.

It is an anger/embarrassment issue, not a putting issue. You have to own up to misses and focus on the next one even if it is short

I developed my flip putt precisely for those stupid 7-footers. My arm will go wild sometimes at that distance.

The putts on 17 at Nest were not her worst attempts, it just came at a bad time. That basket is tough to putt on and the roll aways are very brutal.

At least Catrina Allen has a proper putting style and for some weird reason occasionally seems to have grip issues when she's not focussing properly. Kona Panis's putting form is horrible, and she probably misses twice as many short putts and Catrina, she's just on top card about 1/10th as often. She putts from, and actually rests the disc on, the outside of her leg... so strange.

Phycologicly when you have a realitivly short putt you tend to rush it to blot out those negative voices saying "you might miss it and look the fool". Have a ritual you go through to help eliminate that. Kat and big jerm struggle with that. Both great players.
