I think you may have to re-read the TQ shift rules. The shift only gives 1 right if the attacker is higher quality than the defender regardless of total difference. That doesn't change the result for the first combat however. Also units with a MA of 0 that are forced to retreat are eliminated, so the stronghold should have done a determined defense. You may want to stack units with gaps in between each other to increase the stack strengths; ZOC bonds will prevent enemy units from moving in the gaps.

At 9.28 No it doesn't go to 1 to 1. TQ only makes a difference on attack. On defence you use it for determined defence.

At 12:53 no halving rounds up.

At 6.51 1/2 of 3 is not 1. Its rounded up to 2 each.
