It is such a pleasure to see even these "lower tier" vintage road bikes get TLC such as this. It is a nightmare going into bike shops and seeing the fat tire schlock they have on sale! It's even creepier trying to get replacement parts for a rebuild. Thanks!

There is the video I have been looking for! Thank you! This is a great instructional on taking apart and servicing/restoring a classic bike. Still, a list of tools and where to get them would be very, very helpful. You have no idea how helpful your videos are! Thanks! Ps. I had a junior racer in the 1960s with one chain ring in the front and the same three cogs Simplex drive train. Not this make, but undoubtedly the same drive train. Brings back memories 😊

Hello friend !!! That will be because you have never removed some original BH cranks like these !!! @@dabrestauracion7404 Over the years i have fitted/ serviced Cranks and bottom brackets from Campagnolo, Zues (same) Shimano , Sugino, Stronglight,Mavic, Suntour, Sakae Ringae. Dia Compe. ET AL, the practice was /is to screw the bolts down, then after a short period say 50 miles check to see if they tighten again , experience tells you when to stop. your crank is a bog standard design 3 piece chain set , You just dont hammer them in like that. you have probably done more harm than good. BUT, if there is a genuine reason for such a crude amateur looking method of reassembly then please state why. PLEASE STATE WHY. Also do dodge the question by alluding to disassembly whist its perfectly obvious I am talking about re-assembly using a metal hammer to bash the spider onto the bottom bracket axle.
@dabrestauracion7404
3 жыл бұрын
@@jezztech Hi, friend!!! Sorry if my comment made you feel bad. I have never alluded to a comment, if you notice I respond to all. Now I'm going to tell you why they are assembled in this rough way. This is how the installation is carried out, because this type of cranks when you place them on the bottom bracket, the gap between them is very tight and there is a very large distance and the screw does not thread, for this reason the blows occur With the rubber hammer, (which does not damage the cranks since they are made of iron and not aluminum) to be able to align them, since if you do not do it the screw will not arrive and if you try to do it it tends to over-thread. I can assure you that if it were another type of cranks, I would never dream of doing this. I'm sorry if my previous comment was offensive, but you were the first to be offensive by saying that you would never bring me a bike. I live living and learning every day, I am neither perfect nor do I want to be. You can be a constructive critic and I love that. But be offensive not please. La verità è che se. Comprerò una siringa dalla farmacia e comprerò anche lo sgabello. Ho due tipi di grassi e non è nemmeno un grosso sacco. Grazie amico ; )
The bloke doing this work is no mechanic, he is what we would call a bodger, if it doesn’t fit give it a good clout with a hammer, like he did with the crank, made me shudder, zero mechanical sympathy.
