Disabled Sisters Are Queens Of Beauty Pageant | BORN DIFFERENT
SUBSCRIBE to Barcroft TV: bit.ly/Oc61Hj
THE world of beauty pageants has helped two disabled sisters find their confidence and, for one of them, her first words. From a young age, both Ava, 9, and 4-year-old Jessa struggled with their confidence, with Jessa unable to speak at all. Ava was born with achondroplasia, the most common form of dwarfism, and Jessa has spina bifida milamidiseal - one of the most complex forms of spina bifida. Parents Jacqueline and Jason Whipple turned to beauty pageants to see if they could bring the girls out of their shells. Between them, Ava and Jessa have appeared in 40 beauty pageants, winning several crowns along the way, not to mention the hearts of everyone who meets them - and their parents couldn’t be prouder.

Pagents seek more than looks.
As the first blind person to win a beauty pageant in Canada, I love this! I won MTCI when I was 15, a year after I lost most of my vision. The pageant really helped me in my journey to recovery and I love seeing it do the same for other disabled girls!

Always have to give credit to people who live through disabilities and disadvantages, how they focus on the positives of life and don't give up. It's amazing how strong some people really are.
@Nicole-hl2ol

There is nothing wrong with being disabled. The only reason we are at a disadvantage is because the world is not made accessible for us. If the whole world could fly except for you, would you want to feel like an inspiration just for existing? When we’re given the tools to be able to do the things other people can do, we’re exactly the same.

While this comment 100% comes from the right place, it shows an unhelpful lack of understanding of living with a disability. Many people with disabilities have no interest in being inspirational or for people to just look at how they "don't give up" and are so strong just because they do normal things - which the girls in this video are doing. They want to simply be seen as normal people, who should be included in every normal part of life, and not seen as suffering just because of their disability.
@rebeccaschadeli8707
5 жыл бұрын
@@savfromsopn that's right. but even if they don't want to be an inspiration, they are. Because they do all they can to do things the world didn't plan for them. That's sad, but that's true. Humanity has his society and activities planed for the average people and the "disabled ones" could have it tough trough that. And they could say "Ok. it's not for me, I'll forget it and stay alone at home.", what lots of other persons would perhaps do for less. But when they try to do the things like normal people, it's harder for them and therefore they are inspirational, because we think "if they can do it, we can do our things too!". I hope you understand me well, I have nothing against them, I'm just happy they try to do their best and show the world, they can do it, and are accepted for who they are! Have a great day!

@@rebeccaschadeli8707 The problem lies in what people call "inspiration p*rn" where disabled people are viewed as something amazing just for doing everyday tasks. Yes it's harder, but we don't want to be an inspiration, we want people to realize our struggles and make things easier. For me, during the last year when most places removed public seating and required the use of hand sanitizer (some kinds I'm allergic to), I realized my disability more than ever. At least I'm no longer looked at funny for wearing allergy masks, but I'm just trying to exist, and find places to sit and get what I need, not be some aspirational thing just because I'm in university with multiple chronic conditions and learning disabilties. I'd suggest looking at the social model of disability, as that's a newer way of looking at disability that helped a lot of us come to terms with our limits, as well as realize we don't have to be an inspiration, and we're also not a problem.
Wow, this is the first time I've ever been truly encouraged by someone competing in pageants. They look like they truly enjoy it and that their parents are doing it for the right reasons. I actually trust them that if it ever started to hurt or they regressed, they'd stop. ....as opposed to a lot of other pageant parents. This is actually really sweet. And, I appreciate that the organizers didn't put them in a different category or anything else. They're just as good - if not better - than some of the other in their age group. Way to go girls!

Sweet sweetheart s God bless them and their caring parents
Hmmm, I wonder if it would be selfish of me to ask God for a brand new heart? Now that Ava & Jessa’s beautiful smiles have melted my old one away?
This is what pageants should do for young children. Not exploit them, but empower them.
What a beautiful family. Ava's huge heart and spirit -- and those eyes -- just make my heart smile so brightly!
I've seen both of these girls in a pageant before. They were both the sweetest kids. Smiled the whole time!
omg such a cute family ! So much talent ❤️ and the girls have so much personality
What an amazing story and amazing family!!! God bless these wonderful parents. Their children are beautiful and I know in my heart they will be success in their life because of a strong support and encouragement from their mother and father. This family is a very great example and influence for young generation 🙏🏻😊
This is AMAZING! Somebody needs to give these girls their own show! TLC watching?
They're both pretty girls! And seeing them being so "fierce", and giving it their all, is proving that no matter what is going on in your life, that you can still go for your dreams and goals! And their parents seem so loving and caring! Giving their children a loving and caring home to live in, and supporting them in the things they want to do, is a great example for others to see!
These are some of the first girls that actually look like they love to do pageants and are not being pressured by parents
These two little girls look like little dolls. So adorable! I love how their little faces lights up when they're on the pageant stage. !!
These sisters are so adorable! And thanks to the parents for taking in all four of these children and showing them the love they deserve. I heard once that "adopted kids are special because they were chosen".

I wish these girls and their parent the best. They are so lovable and seems so happy participating. Good job teaching them to brave in public since kid. All the best for this family
These girls have more passion and zest for life than any of those Toddlers and Tiaras brats. I am usually very against these pageants, but I believe that this is an outlet that lets them be their own advocates. They’re changing the face of beauty in the eyes of so many kids❤️
honestly hate pagents but this seems to genuinely make these two happy and is done for the good of the kids rather than to just live the parents dream. massive respect to the parents :D

Another kid in Bulgaria was starving and covered in hair from an orphanage but he is doing amazing with his new family he can now, at least a temp to, move and make noises, I'm happy Ava and the other Bulgaria kid are doing well #saveBulgariakids
I always thought that pageants were the worst thing for children, but watching this video I understood that they have a lot of potential to build confidence in children 💕 wish it could be like that for every child
They have so much confidence it makes my heart swell
im crying i love them
I LOVED THIS VIDEO...IT WAS DIFFERENT AND SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL TO WATCH. TY SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS. I SMILED ALL THE WAY THROUGH IT
Adorable! Bravo to the parents for fighting for the girls confidence and uniqueness.
These parents are totally awesome people! God bless them in all ways!! The children are beautiful, all if them..and I saw their son too, so cute. Parents, please stay healthy and take very good care of yourselves, the kids need you now and in the future. Your both amazing parents..God bless! xx
I’d like to see more of these 2 litto sweethearts!! They’re way to cute, if they had a show I’d watch! Way to go girlies! 🤙🏽
i used to do pageants and i remember me and this girl were playing with some curtain and it fell down and busted a hole in the wall and i was disqualified so was the girl LOL
Mom and dad are so sweet and nice, and the whole family is just amazing 🙌😁😁 good luck to them !!!
