Disabled and proud | Zainab Al-Eqabi | TEDxUniversityofSharjah
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Zainab Al-Eqabi takes us through her journey with disability. Having lost her leg at the age of 7 due to both an old bomb left from war and a medical mistake, she talks about her experience and the challenges she went through in her life. Her message is to change mentalities toward disabled people in the Arab world and encourage people with disability to live their lives more positively and use their condition in their favor, and she sets a pretty good example in doing that.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

I've had the good fortune to meet this girl in person and I must admit she is more inspiring that what this video can convey. The world needs people who can turn a frown upside down and who believe that problems are not road blocks but just an opportunity to look for a detour to reach one's goals. Thank you for taking the time to share your life story.

She is very pretty. I wish these Arab women would unveil themselves and be proud of their beauty. They could be modestly dress and not show skin but with no hijabs or veils. I bet ANYTHING if they were modern women the world would see them totally different politically and socially. They're very confusing society to understand.
