"if I have time to play a video game or browse my phone, I play with the M8 instead." Wow stealing this. Great idea.
Love it already. The only problem is that you and your talent make any device look and sound so cool, that you probably might sell me a lawnmower, while I don't even have a lawn. Really inspiring. Can't wait to hear your new album! ❤️

@@taylorhickman84 OP-1 might be an overkill and a bit tricky for the beginner. I'd suggest to start with something simple like MIDI controller and a DAW. And you are totally okay to sound terrible or great, talented or not. Music is about your own adventure, so just enjoy it. ✌️

@@evisvibing I absolutely agree, apart for the the part where you say a DAW is easy. The amount of options in a DAW can be daunting. That is why I personally prefer hardware because the limitation facilitates the creative juices🧃🤖.
@evisvibing
2 жыл бұрын
@@sambeard4428 True, but you don't have to dig into everything all at once. You can start with the very basics, like watching 5-minutes guide on youtube. I've been using DAWs for few years and I think I still haven't learned even half of what any DAW has to offer, but I know enough for me to start jamming whenever I want and come up with a track. And I always learn something new only the moment I need it. For me this rule applies to anything I do, like filming and editing. I remember thinking DAWs were hard back in the days too, but as soon as I figured out how to connect and setup the controller I was already in it. And yes, hardware is super fun still! I currently jam with my volca sample 2 and it is pretty limited yet simple. And it is exciting trying to figure out the ways to get around the limitations. It's always an adventure. 😍
Much respect for bringing the hype and discouraging buying from scalpers. It's absolutely worth the wait and worth supporting the one-man team who is making this magic happen. Every dollar counts for keeping it alive :) cheers!!
As an active LSDj creator, this looks amazing. It's everything I love about Little Sound DJ and the Gameboy all grown up into a modernized synthesizer.

Yey! Jeremy . 24 mins go so fast showing the M8, as someone who has made a few intro to m8 videos you have explained it very well, so easy to get sidetracked and talk about tables or nuances of NTH. All of us M8 users are excited to see it on your channel, love that you been making an album on it!

Just got mine the other day. So glad I was able to snag one, having an absolute blast learning it!
Love this video, especially cause it’s reminding me that I really, really need to spend more time with my m8. I’m glad you got one, even more that you made a video and album with it. Truly believe this device is one of the coolest under the radar kits of 2021. So glad to see you featuring it and asking people to support Trash80 for pouring his heart and soul into the project.
I find it amazing that this device can be operated with 8 buttons. It has less buttons than a pocket operator but does so much more!
So happy that you did a video on this. Can’t wait to hear the album! I’m even happier that I preordered mine a couple of weeks ago, before you released this video. You know, before the influx of sales due to this. You have a way of convincing people they need something. You’re the reason I own a Deluge!
Really nice tune at the start. Got my m8 the other week and it still boggles my mind. Best workflow out of anything I've used, computer included.
This is exactly the info I needed to get me going when I pick up my M8 tomorrow(from a non-scalper).
And if you want to wait out the scalpers, then the headless M8 is an option to tinker, as well.
New stock came in today! Very excited to get my hands on one finally .
Oh no he made a video on it. Now the preorder queue will get to 2023 in no time.
Always loved the tracker workflow, this looks like if ReNoise was a portable machine with the UI minimalism of smth like ORCA by 100 rabbits. You can also feel how fun the process is just by watching you move around the menus. Honestly the process seems to be just so nice and playful, compared to dealing with any other portable sound machine ive seen so far. The "hands on" part looks awesome too. Thank you for showing it!

yep, Renoise is really nice but making music on a laptop is just not for me, I'm hoping to buy the m8 soon to use it as a portable tracker. I'm familiar with lsdj so it shouldn't take that long to learn the basics^^
m8 is my favourite piece of gear I've ever used now. had it since September. it's a thing of beauty ♥️ great video Jeremy, & nice one for the anti-scalper shout out 👍
it's impossible to not come away from your instrument exploration videos without wanting to also own one. A real testament to your musicality and ability to distil these often odd collections of knobs and buttons into emotive objects.
For the first time in my life I can finally understand how modern computer technology looks to my parents. You turn this confusing jumble of numbers into amazing music, and as far as I’m concerned it’s voodoo. Thanks for sharing!

Got mine back in October and I’m blown away by how powerful this tiny little thing is. I’m hoping to get another to mix between with my crossfader mixer.
Preordered! Trackers have a very special place in my heart and I love seeing a one-person passion project
The first thing that strikes me about this device is the wonderful user interface design. I haven’t touched a tracker since Octamed on my friends Amiga he leant me in the 90’s but this is very tempting. The approach of using this instead of browsing/scrolling some app on a mobile is very appealing indeed. A truly portable, usable, but above all fun music making device on the go! Thank you for sharing with us.
i accidentally got my hand over LSDJ last year and M8 looks like a modern Little Sound DJ on steroids. thanks for a great overview, really hope to get lucky and grab an M8 too 🙏
Things like this motivate me to get through college. One day I'll be able to afford this. Amazing video
Ugh I love this thing. I would happily just watch more videos of you building songs on this
the true highlight is the m8 tracker based album coming 👀🎶
Oh hell yes I’m glad you have one of these to communicate it. Since watching M8 early adopters the last few years, every time I see a clip there’s always interesting sounds coming out of one. Very excited
Been absolutely 12 year old about it for months. This is a magic machine. Great demo btw, loved the loop.
I have no words. The interface, keys... what a wonderful way to navigate a tracker. And THAT SYNTH ENGINE! I want one, I guess there's more tracker standard stuff in it to love too, but this thing has so many new cool ways to do it. Having worked with the old trackers this is jaw-dropping!
I think what I like better (so far) about the Polyend Tracker is the ability to kind of just bang the pads live. I'm sure I just need to build the muscle memory with the M8. Fantastic machine, nice walkthrough, Jeremy.
@rorz999
2 жыл бұрын
You're spot on. The main thing the Polyend has over the M8 is the grid of pads where you can bang out drum beats or play it as a synth. But the M8 is so much more portable, so it's swings and roundabouts. Overall I prefer the M8, but still use find myself using the Polyend more often
Duuuude every track you show is gorgeous. Its a gem to my ears, nice vid.
Been watching this project for awhile. Really cool instrument that is more reliable than an old gameboy!
I had to pause and rewind a lot to follow the first part of this until I got more of the hang of the keys and key combos, but I learned a bunch. Thanks!
I'm so excited you picked one up! I hope Tim gets more business, bc the m8 is an amazing tool, especially for the price! Glad it could inspire you like it has those of us who got to get ones early! ❤️
You SOaB, I was just lamenting the fact that it’s going to be months before my pre-ordered m8 arrives. Twisting the delicious knife.
Thanks for making and sharing this review. I had not come across the M8 but it looks wonderfully fun: very tempting.
I think there's never been a video that hyped me more than this one
I've had mine for a few months and am still learning its finer details. It has a steep learning curve but once you hit the "aha" moment it will blow your mind! 11/10 work of pure genius.

Thanks for this video! Such a wonderful demonstration of the M8. I’ve been using LSDJ on and off for about 15 years and it seems like the M8 really takes what was great about LSDJ and I’m very excited about it. Just got an order in!

It’s not the gear that made the music. RMR could make just as compelling music on pretty much anything. You can buy the device but you can’t buy the 1000s of hours of practice, study, and training that actually created the musical ideas. Don’t get me wrong, gear is cool and necessary, but it isn’t the music.

@@LordAus123 I'm very much aware of this. I'm a photographer, and gear lust is a thing there too, but I know more gear is never needed to create what I already want to create. But with the Dirtywave, I'm not drawn to the music I'm seeing others make with it, I just like the novelty of having a portable device to create with while I'm out.
Great video man (and you're already flying around this thing!), so glad you got one of these sent to you! I am looking forward to hear what you come up with. I just got my M8 2 days ago... I ordered a couple of months ago, but it was worth the wait... this thing is mind blowing, and the interface is so intuitive! Today I sat in the park playing with it for almost 2 hours (and hell man, the time went so quick!), and I didn't feel like a total douche... using the Deluge or OP-1 in public still draws too much attention for my liking... using the M8 just looks like someone using their phone or something... so I like that! Stealth beat making! Its interesting that my two favourite devices (Deluge and now M8) are both designed by individual people, not big companies... it really says a lot, and for me proves that the old phrase "too many cooks spoil the broth" is very true!
so cool! I've been eyeing the polyend tracker for a while, def gonna look into this one a bit more before deciding what to get
"I just wanted to get you excited about the M8" - Mission accomplished, this thing sounds unreal.
