It's the rear steer. Late models became faster and more entertaining than way back when, when the rear steer came along. It's been no secret forever, that rear steer makes a BIG difference, into the corner, out of the corner and through the corner. Drive your car down the road at 30 mph and turn a hard corner, then repeat but backing up (i.e. rear steer), feel the difference lol. Late models have a LOT of rear steer, mods do not, but they could have, I don't think it's against the rules (would just take some playing around to get it right).

you are partly right.... LM's have bigger tires. but the modified sizes are 13 inches except on the left front which is 11 inches. the other things to consider - LM has lower center of gravity and the driver is offset to the left, higher revving engines.

@@RedroomStudios I can agree -- only partly right !!! So many other factors involved ... and I don't know the rules or differences in types of Mods! Some mods do have high hp motors... and not all classes of LM are unlimited (hp). Shocks could be a big factor, don't know those rules either. I do know setup is huge --- and if setup is correct for a LM and a Mod ----- head to head, tires (or the contact patch) will be significant! That's apparent. Now -- for the lower center of gravity... Is that tire related? The driver offset has nothing to do with it ... left side, rear, and split %age is part of the setup so ??? Rules --- for the rpm limit, could be! The chassis is quite a bit different. The driver in the modified sits in the middle of the car, while the late model driver is on the driver's side. A modified is more like a sprint car chassis. BTW, this is only for the northeast mods, not the ones that are run around the rest of the country. The tire selection might be different. Big Block mods normally run a muffler whiel late models don't.
