Dirt Cheap Waste Oil drip feed Cooker Project

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Making The Dirt Cheap Drip feed Cooker. Today I am making the oil feed for the cooker project. There are many ways to make a drip feed system but I find this an easy and reliable method of delivering oil into the waste oil burner. The burner in this cooker is using a little over 2 litres of used oil per hour and making a lot of heat from that amount of oil. With the updraft burner fitted to this oil burner the output is more controllable and it may be possible to use it as a reliable cooker. Cheers Gerry

It's almost therapeutic to watch a competent person experiment successfully with something you wish to experiment with yourself :) Great videos and with enough good shots of the fabrication to copy, really appreciated.

Hi Nandodando. I know what you mean. This little stove and burner are working great and it's a very cheap project to make. I have no doubt there are a million different ways to make this but to be able to make heat for free once the build is complete is a great asset and makes working in the shed in the middle of winter possible. Thanks for the comment. Cheers Gerry

Gerry. I have many many liters of used motor oil and the other day while driving home I was wondering if I could use it to heat my shop. I ran a search and found your videos. After watching many of them over the last few days. Your designs and videos blow my mind. I didn't think it could be this efficient! Thanks Gerry liked and subscribed! I'm building me one of these!

Hopefully I can make enough btu's to overcome my inefficient sheds ability to lose heat. This little stove / cooker has been a very successful little heater project. I have some more heater projects planned soon. Thanks for the comment. Cheers Gerry

Great job Gerry I have been following your vids since I came across them months ago and are planning a waste oil burner that will use your burner , along with a 55 gallon barrel. I do have a question as my burner will be mounted inside the barrel, what size hole is needed for the air intake under the burner and if a 4 inch stove pipe will be enough for the venting of the smoke/gasses. Your reply will guide me in the design as the barrel is now planned to be stainless steel and will be installed inside a 250 gallon round tank sealed from each other and installed outside this will be ducted to the 2300 square foot shop. thanks and keep up the great work.

Gerry, brilliant as always. Your flefiFlue..is it aluminum, and rated for how high temp? Have some 4 or 6 inch options rated to 480*F I need to go back to your vids w air temp readings on flue. I have old cast iron flex, but once cut its cut for good no options for other stove usage. I'm going to play with draw as I have a 20' stack for draw but I don't know how far horizontal I can draw if I need to relocate furnace, my car lift is close to that and don't want to melt bumpers or worse have gasoline issues with vapors.

Hi Erik. The flexi flue is stainless steel. There are a couple of grades and this is the heavier grade suitable for solid fuel. I have 6 inch flue in this stove now and I have removed the flexi flue. I have been running flexi flue for the last few years with no problems. It's used as a liner when chimneys are less than perfect. Maybe you could mock it up out side and see how far you can go horizontally and still get good pull from the flue. a 20 foot stack would make for a great flue and would allow you to go quite some distance horizontally I think. Thanks for the comment. Cheers Gerry

Hi Gerry! I want to make the thing like this and can You tell me the exact sizes of this oil burner? the diameters of outer and inner pipes and diameter and numbers of holes? not the cooker itself but the thing where oil is burning? thanx!

Hi. Here's a closer look at my burner. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lGisvNCeiKnLnsY.html The diameter is 7 inches the sides are 3 inches high and the propane bottle is 5 inches from the base. The holes are 1 inch apart and there are 4 rows of 13mm holes. Hope this helps Cheers Gerry

I have watched many youtube videos on waste oil burners. There are two things I would do as a mechanical engineer... get more surface area than a propane bottle for good heat radiation (as you have done here with a steel drum), and I would pipe in external air for combustion. Good videos. Thanks

With the steel red hot, around the combustion chamber, you don't melt the copper fuel pipe?

  • @GerrysDiy

    @GerrysDiy

    6 жыл бұрын

Hi Shane. Air travels through the pipe into the combustion chamber helping to keep the oil in the feed pipe cool. I can add forced air too if I want a hotter burn. Because I was getting lots of questions on the drip feed setup I made another video here's a link. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dJpnmqqMqNe5cto.html Towards the end of the video you can see the propane bottle getting red hot and it functions perfectly. Hope this helps Cheers Gerry.

GerrysDiy friend of mine build a waste oil heater for his large shop that utilises a pump. With all the variations in viscosity between different shop temps and batches of waste oil it was the only way he found that allowed him consistently control feed to the burner.

Hi John. You summed it up perfectly. I will be moving to a pump setup soon. This burner setup will work without power but it would be more controllable with a pump for sure. Thanks for the comment John Cheers Gerry

Looks like a good project ans seams to work but i have some friendly critasism, I'm trying to follow your build from start to finish, but each 10 -12 minute video in the series you give 10 minutes repeated and only a minute or 2 of new info, I think it would be better if you started off where you finished off in the previous video with maybe a minute recap before the new content, the way it is i feel like just jumping to the end and i'll get everthing anyway. I say this to help make your channel more interesting to make it worth while subscribing. Take a look at other channels with multi part builds and compare, hopefully you will see what i mean, and please don't take offence as my suggestions are not meant to be offensive.
