I organize my physical media collection by director (which drives my wife crazy) and I could suggest many to add to your spotlight. A few I'd love to see are some of the forgotten hit makers of the 70s & 80s like, names like Peter Yates, John Boorman & Joseph Sargent come to mind. There's also Michael Schultz who rarely gets his name mentioned when the conversation of pioneering minority film directors comes up. More people need to know about him.

Dude, I greatly appreciate these recommendations! I’ve added Boorman, Sargent, and Yates to my list of filmmakers to consider for future installments in this series.

Looking forward to the Spielberg episode. I’m a huge fan of his. I think the quality of his filmmaking is sometimes overlooked since people associate him with summer blockbusters. But watching something like Close Encounters of the Third Kind, it’s hard to deny what an incredible director he is. Paul Schrader might be an interesting director to do someday. I just rewatched Hardcore and it’s got some problems but overall it’s still pretty great. Very similar to Taxi Driver.

Spielberg is a great director. I hope you focus on some his early work before he became a blockbuster hit maker like Duel, Sugarland Express & the Columbo TV movies be directed.
