This is a form of nondual insight or what is called effortless mindfulness. It is traditionally the next stage after deliberate mindfulness. You can see how it is a direct path form of insight meditation that shifts from awareness of the contents as in the sattipatana to awareness of the context -- awake awareness (Rigpa) that is beyond the meditator and within all.

I did a 10day Vipassana meditation course and it sounds very similar, maybe there are some subtle differences. He will be in Dublin Ireland in September, I might go and check him out.

The first part is Vipassana but then it moves beyond a detached mindful witness to feeling directly from within your body. Then when awareness looks behind the camera of the meditator to awake awareness there is a interdependent/emptiness-appearance realization. As Stephanie describes her experience is not looking to or from mindful meditator but direct perception from field of awareness within and all around that is already effortlessly aware. This is the movement from Deliberate Vipassana to Awake Freedom. Please see Loch's other videos about effortless mindufness and Chapter 2 in The Way of Effortless Mindfulness which compares and contrasts. Enjoy :)

It is so funny to hear this next stage nondual dzogchen style "effortless mindfulness" pointer be mistaken, or reduced to vipassana/insight meditation. This is why he calls it the "Columbo approach" because it is subtle and if you have not had the new instruction you reduce it to what you know. In those practices you are using attention directed from mind or mindful witness. Here there is an immediate shift to rigpa, awake awareness, which is not even a category in insight meditation or the 4 foundations of mindfulness until enlightenment. This is what Loch calls the 5 foundations of effortless mindfulness which is easily distinguished if you read his book, The Way of Effortless Mindfulness and try some of the other glimpses and pointers.
