How to do "AUTO-WALK" ~ Stephanie Nash

Steph shares a way in which she taught Shinzen's "Auto-Walk" technique at a retreat where she was co-teaching with Shinzen. Shinzen was delighted at how quickly and easily people seemed to pick it up, and he requested that Steph make a video of how she presented it and post it here on his KZread channel.

This video with the emphasis on the just happening-ness of the auto family reminded of something that happened a while ago. I sat down for a formal meditation after a long period time of trying out the auto family of meditations. At one point during the meditation, I remembered that I still needed to do the dishes. There was a distinct moment, not quite a verbal thought but definitely mental activity, where I had the choice of repressing the urge to do the dishes to do the sit or submit to it. I just let go and submitted. It was strangely fascinating. There was the sensation of still engaging in my formal sit while my body and emptiness did the dishes for me. I had a couple of insights then: 1) I had been auto-everything my whole life without knowing it in a way 2) conscious thought can serve as a trigger for decisions to action. From there, bodily actions can just freely flow. That's especially true in cases where you have motor memory off the activity from years of repetition. It feels like a self making the choices because the mind is constantly evaluating results, thinking about other things, and being too distracted by the outside world to notice that.

I am regretably unsuscribing from your channel as this platform repeatedly violates my ethical guidelines. I will check your channel once more to see if you have posted links to a more wholesome outlet so I may continue to enjoy your productions. I'm sorry KZread has put you in this position
