My favorite guitar player in the whole world. Mark K. is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mark is praised, quite logically. But the trio behind him is also really awesome.
Mark has a God given talent for sure.
In 44 years does anyone think people will still be listening to any current hit today? Really hope music comes back to great sound like this sometime soon.

This song is a masterpiece. Nothing more, nothing less.
Summer of '79, a three month hippy honeymoon across Europe. It's around midnight and we're running through the Munich train station trying to catch an overnight to Vienna. Sultans of Swing is playing through the station loud speakers at full volume. First time hearing it. The feeling of euphoria is still there...over 40 years later.
I'm 76 and still cry when I hear this group. They're mesmerising!

A guy that I used to play with was absolutely obsessed with him. They had very similar finger picking styles. He used to beg us to play this with him. We got to where we actually had a really tight cover of it. We used to play it for sound check. It was good because everyone has distinct parts. He had the solos down. Not me, I'm like "guitar George". I play chords with a pick ..... Boring I know. Usually though for soundcheck you play like 1 minute just to tweek the levels and everything. So we're in this bar one night doing soundcheck, and the soundguy never stopped us. He was amazed that we were a 4 piece and everyone was good enough to actually play that entire song. He was a fan after that.
My entire teenage years were in the decade of the 1970's. I am so blessed to have grown up with the best bands of all time, drove American made muscle cars, raced two stroke motorcycles and hung out with girls wearing hip hugger bell bottom jeans and platform shoes. Thank you Lord.

The whole album just came out of the blue, landing smack in the middle of dying 70's dinosaurs, snarling insipid talentless punks, and cookie cutter corporate rockers. Dire Straits might as well have come from another stsr system. Their music was so different and yet so timeless and familar. I love the feel of this album. It has a warmth, a whiteness, a kind of authentic purity. The only other record that matches it in terms of this feel is Television's eponymous third album--another classic for anyone who loves great guitar playing.

This is a song I will NEVER get sick of!
Without a doubt one of the greatest rock songs ever written
The first time I heard this song was the summer of 1978. I was in the backseat of my dad's 77 Chevrolet Caprice 4 door, while driving along the shore line of Grand Traverse Bay Michigan. It was late afternoon and we were on vacation going to our hotel on the bay. I told my dad to turn up the volume and he did and me, dad, mom and older sister rocked out to it. Well, at least me and my sister did, but our parent didn't seem to mind the song. To this day when I hear this song, it takes me back to that moment. Good times!
