Kfir, in response to your message ( I followed your link, now I have to rely on this video to Communicate, as I forgot where the link was at, lol) I have heard so many talented Guitarists Jam to on of the many Backing Tracks, some have sh*t ALL over it with 1000,00 notes/second, others ..... Note for note stuff, yawn!!..... Mark never played a whole solo Live twice, there was always the certain bits that HAD TO be the same (ie the twiddly bit at the end) BTW You have took that to an awesome level..... I must say, If you had been around in 85-86, (Although Mark isn't a real metal fan) I would of persuaded him to let you join in.......I have enjoyed your rendition IMMENSLY, I just sent the Link to MK ..... remind me to copy/paste what he says back.... I am just going for another couple of listens, Peace Kifr

This is the purest metal/instrumental cover I've seen/heard ever. Looked so effortless but so amazingly executed. 5/5 AND TWO thumbs up from me.

@@4482paper Tbh, Frog Leap Studio's version isn't bad but it replaces basically all of the riffs with power chords which ended sounding kind of bland. And the solo in Leo's cover sounds so out of place. This one actually has some element of the original and the solo doesn't sound out of place. But hey, it's subjective. Enjoy whichever one you like. 🤘

I’ve played Sultans of Swing for years with the original twangy clean tone (and a little chorus), but had never seen a cover like this! Awesome tone and feel. I’ve been practicing this version and it’s taught me more about the song than I never knew. Thanks for the inspiration and the lesson!

It has always been my favourite part of the solo in the original but the metal version is awesome

I've been playing for 60 years. I don't play metal, I'm a blues and hard rock guy. That being said, I REALLY appreciate what you did here!

Sorry dude…this is recognized by most GREAT guitarists, and musicians, as quintessential excellence on guitar, a landmark in the History of Rock, and for some, Music as a whole. It’s an example of Mastery, that most aren’t aware is possible. And for Mark Knopfler…it’s become effortless. Hopefully, what you meant by ‘underrated’, was intended to imply it was ‘under appreciated’ by a lot of ‘mainstream’ music listeners. I doubt many people under 30 have ever even heard this song, unless it was in a movie, tv show, or commercial…much less heard of Dire Straits.

Yes the literal synonym for ‘underrated’ is ‘under appreciated’ and obviously if you look at the context of what I was saying, that’s what was intended. And you just proved my point exactly… most people now days don’t even know who Dire Straits or Mark Knopfler is. That is a crying shame. So what I was saying is that outside of the very small world of “great” guitarists and enthusiasts like most of us on this thread, I sincerely hope that more people of all generations will get to hear this great music; and that’s why I like the way this guy is evolving it. Why take issue with such a positive comment in the first place?

You can touch it believe me... I hadn't played for almost 2 years till 3 months ago and started transcribing/learning this 2 months ago and I have it almost perfect now. Just cant figure out the last lick cause it's so quick haha. If you put the time in you'll get there. It takes commitment but boy do I feel good being able to play this now!!!

Awesome. Great job dude. This is one of solos why Knoffler is one of all time greatest. Not how many notes you play or how fast - but the gaps he leaves and the feeling in the notes. Bloody genius.

Over a Hundred Bikers went to my friends Funeral where this was played, for the last mile we all removed our Crash Helmets and wore them on our arms as a mark of respect and the Police just turned a Blind Eye and escorted us through the Traffic. This song is so moving for so many people for so many reasons! It is one of those Epic tracks!

Hell yeah...your other version brought me here...and I'm glad it did. As a metal head and metal player, I love metal versions and twisting them myself...but this...is way out of my league. Insane.

I've come back to this over a dozen times. Simply amazing. Never noticed you had birds in the background till ours died...and I couldn't figure out where the chirping was coming from.
