Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on KZread, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on KZread. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on KZread, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.

Marks guitar playing is a thing of true originality and beauty. Truly a one off.
Dire Straits were one of the best of their time, and their songs are timeless... it is what it is...timeless
"There's a place for us, you know the movie song" is a reference to "Somewhere (There's a Place for Us") , a song from the 1961 movie musical, West Side Story which is based on the story of Romeo & Juliet. The movie is an adaptation of the Broadway musical that first opened in 1957. Thanks for reacting to my favorite song from Dire Straits!
The whole "Making Movies" album is fire! This was the last album that drummer Pick Withers worked on before leaving the band. Give "Skateaway" off the same album a listen and listen to the groove Pick puts down at the end. Even almost 45 years later, that groove still gets to me. "Romeo And Juliet" was a sweet, beautiful love ballad that radio just couldn't contain.
You should watch the movie "Local hero". It is just not only an extraordinary movie, Mark also wrote the theme song for it.
His story telling is something else
Lyrically, this is Mark Knopfler describing a past romance he had, in a poetic manner. Musically, superb, but, that is standard operating procedure for Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler Even better live, the outro is extended
The beautiful different guitar is called a dobro, all metal bodied.

The whole album is brilliant in my opinion my favourite of the dire straits albums.
Top 5 song of all time
Can't wait for you to see the live version of this. It is amazing. But you definitely did right listening to this studio version 1st. This gives you a nice baseline of what to expect, then the rest is just icing on the cake. Take a listen to "Skate Away" by them, and "Once Upon a Time in the West".
I’d go for the Alchemy live version next

Their performance of Sultans Of Swing at Alchemy Live is amazing. You might wanna check it out.
I've always been a fan of listening to the album first, live gig second, but when it comes down to the nitty-gritty if the music is good it really doesn't matter...
Like the play, this song is transcendent, its rock, folk and country for me. While Mark has written many wonderful songs, this resonates the most with me. It evokes an almost Noir ambiance that is hypnotic. The Killers also perform this song regularly at live shows, which speaks to their authenticity. Simply beautiful.
Nice reaction to a great band, you can't miss with any of their tunes. Love to see your reaction to "Sonny Liston", it's a great tune.

Why worry is another good one
Shame that the backing was overly loud in parts, 'cos Mark's lyrics are both clever and touching. The Alchemy version is better balanced, sound wise. But still a great song.
I haven't heard this is a long time. Thanks for reacting to it. :) As an aside, wondering if you plan on reacting to any more Led Zeppelin?

Yes, actually have 2 Led Zeppelin reactions in queue! 😁 1 is blocked currently... it's a Royal Albert Hall reaction, and the other is coming out on the 27th. The one that got blocked kinda ruined the flow

Yeah, that blocking issue is a real pain, and I don't understand the problem of getting reactions such as yours out there for people to enjoy, especially those who are new to the music and wouldn't otherwise get familiar with it! In any case, looking forward to what you can get posted. :)
