A welcome addition to the Dire Straits collection! The live show from the Rainbow Club is a special inclusion for me because it's the exact date that I played their first album!... I love it when God gives me a wink and a smile!!...My older sister was visiting for Christmas and had a bunch of tapes as she was working in a music shop at the time, anyway... I put side A on a cassette tape into the portable stereo player and Dire Straits introduced themselves to my ears with Down to the Waterline As great as it is to have this live box set... it could have been better with the inclusion of an Alchemy Live DVD to accompany the CD, with both having the full song list! A full song set list DVD along with the On The Night CD would also have been welcomed by fans I imagine, although the Alchemy live DVD should be priority if only a single DVD was included as this is the #1 live performance with most fans As already mentioned by many others, a live concert from the 1985/86 Brothers in Arms tour would have made many happy, particularly since this was the time lots of people 'discovered' Dire Straits after hearing Money for Nothing and/or Walk of Life on the radio or watching on MTV or some other music tv show

A French friend had a video of the Nimes concert which I watched over and over again in 1999. It was the "other" gig, you know the one with the yellow shirt Mark also wore in Basel. I have been fantasizing about a release like this for 25 years. It's all about the songs that DON'T appear On The Night. My all time favourite perfomances of Sultans of Swing, Telegraph Road and Tunnel of Love were performed with the expanded 9 piece band and the Knopfler on the Pensa MK1. I found out about this boxset only a couple of days ago and I have had trouble sleeping. I just can't wait to receive the box, open it, admire it, put the box on the shelf and the CDs in the CD player.

Awesome set! Haven't bought the studio albums box, because in my opinion it could have been more complete then it is right now. And concerning the fact I already have some Very Best Of- and Greatest Hits albums by them. But this one I will certainly buy. Very curious about the live material. Thanks for the unboxing and Merry Xmas! 🎄🎅🙏🏻

@@JOAKO316 just a design! Funnily enough Queen’s Freddie Mercury had arrows on his stage clothes on the Hot Space tour in 1982!

There must be some in the vaults. Then again the Rainbow is a nice archive addition. I enjoyed it but I like all eras of Dire Straits equally!

I’d say I’ll grab that too. It’s expensive and I have original Alchemy and On The Night plus the Encores 12” from 1993. But I don’t have the BBC vinyl and Rainbow is a new release! There are few bands I’d shell out on but Dire Straits is one. Might pencil in the Knopfler solo sets too! I have them on CD.

@@KRAZEEIZATION The original LP's that i have from this new collection is Alchemy. The original LP On The Night is a bit expensive, so i was thrilled they were finally releasing the reissue. I'm buying this collection, and the main reason is "On The Night". It's my favorite live performance.

@@malagueta1986 I kind of agree, the OTN band is super slick. The songs are more developed and Paul Franklin’s superb pedal steel playing really augments them. OTN should have been a fully fledged double CD back in 1993 though. I think I like all eras of Dire Straits equally because of Marks stellar playing. I just never liked the Pensa-Suhr guitar that’s all. Pretty nasty Floyd Rose bridge, which he never used, EMG active pickups, his tone is very dark at times with this guitar which I don’t mind. He’s using Fenders a lot now again I notice.

@@KRAZEEIZATION Yeah i hear you. Paul Franklin is spectacular with the pedal steel. On The Night deserved a full Bluray remastered if possible like they did to Alchemy. Yes i like all eras but they changed from era to era, and evolved in a good way. I know what you mean about the Pensa but i like the tone in a certain way. It gives him a bit more power, probably coming from the active pickups. Yes, i saw Mark, in 2010, 2015 and 2019 in Portugal, and he used the Fenders a lot, along with other guitars. How many days did you wait to receive the cd collection? I ordered on November 4th.

@@malagueta1986 I ordered from a shop in Dublin and had it in 24 hours! Domestic shipping! My local store sold out. Amazon was sold out. I’m amazed there’s no other videos of the vinyl or CD yet!

I listened to it today. It’s a nice raw gig with no keyboards or fancy stuff. Just guitar, bass and drums. The Phil Lynott stuff at the end is great rock n roll.
