Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on KZread, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on KZread. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on KZread, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

The one piece of info about this song that I don't think you mentioned, and I haven't noticed in the comments, is that Mark wrote this song after a friend of his died in the Falklands war; it's written from the point of view of that dying soldier who never got to go home... I imagine that's one of the reasons Mark gets so emotional every time he performs it. It gives me chills every time.

All versions of this timeless classic are wonderful but this is my personal favourite so thanks for that. The emotion that Mark K puts into this is plain to see on his face and plain to hear from the notes he brings out of his guitar. At this troubled time in our history this should be played morning, noon and night to as many people as is humanly possible.

When the Falkland’s war was going on , I lived in a house where the RAF and Navy pilots practiced dog fighting over my house before they were deployed, it really was scary. My twins where about five Daddy what are they doing I was asked , oh just practicing I said , this was released a couple of years later , I thought it was a great song and loved it My twins are now serving members of the British Forces both have done Iraq , one has done Afghan as well , this song has a much deaper meaning for me now , especially when they talk about what they went through So proud of them and all that served with them , let’s hope Old Men don’t get young men and women killed again for egos again in 2024

I think the ending phrase is saying we are all humanity (on both sides of every conflict) and the men and women fighting are all 'brothers in arms'. So we are fools to kill each other because of the fools at the top (who are not fighting and dying). If no one fights, there can be no wars. Idealistic; but how can war end, unless we each realize that there is nothing more valuable than life?

The emotion in this version is way beyond any other. For my former military personnel colleagues. And those that didn't come home, or that left part of themselves behind. "Now the sun's gone to hell, and, The moon's riding high, Let me bid you farewell Every man has to die"

Always enjoy your insights. Regarding your comments on the final two lines of the song, I agree, and would like to add something additional. All soldiers in war--even the enemy--are "brothers in arms" to their own fellow comrades, who also find themselves in a conflict not of their own making, sharing the same horrific experience as you. Therefore, both sides in a battle are really one-and-the-same, even though they are fighting on different sides. Basically, you're trying to kill someone like yourself, your "brother". Definitely an anti-war song.

I’ve spent a lot of my life trying to learn how he plays, and I think the best lesson is in the last 20 seconds of the clip where most people would play something extra, and you can see him assess everything and decide that the best thing to do for the song is do nothing

It's the first time I've watched this video, and I was surprised to see that onstage with Mark was Eric Clapton backing him up on rhythm guitar, you can see him full view at around 735 - 7:55 and again at 8:25 of your video. That's a star-heavy stage.

I am not sure you got that line "We're fools to make war on our brothers in arms" right. I think he means "fools to make ware" as in attacking those brothers in arms or rather people like you and me on the other side of the frontline. Saying that we shouldn't even make war. On a different note, some kindred spirit went through the trouble of remastering the DS concert from 1986 in Sydney. Well worth watching: "Dire Straits - Sydney 86 - New Pro-Shot copy.
