I've used the SWR dipsy after watching NofishNick's video. Works great. No different than uncliping a planer board. Some trips it's my top producer.
Great topic Chris, looking forward to this Sundays topic Thanks, Tim
Great info, as always!!!
Didn't see any comments about diver setup for digging the bottom for lake trout?
I drop everything too. Especially fishing or anywhere near an engine.
More great information Chris, thanks. Someone asked about 6ft slider on dipsey, you meant as a leader behind your 50 lb and swivel ,correct?

That is correct.
Chris, Do you recommend attaching your diver to a barrel swivel snap on the end of your main line or tying your main line direct to the diver? Thanks

Definitely use a swivel. kzread.info/dash/bejne/noSGk86zf9yyeco.html
Chris, do you run mags on your high divers when the temp break is down deep?

I'm sorry, I misread this question. The only time I run mags on high divers is when I'm bouncing bottom for lake trout.
Is it crucial to have a snubber? Planning to just put 16 feets on mono behind the dipsy for lake trout in my area... maybe a 15 lbs lake would be a surprise in my spot. I think that without a snubber it would improve de hook set. Good vid btw.

For kings I think a snubber is crucial, but for your area it may not be. I'd try both and see which is better.

run a rubber trust me. the old school Luhr Jensens work good if they are new. will last a long time. look at how they are constructed they work trust me. rip cord style are what most use and thats fine. John King might make the best snubber out there you'll have to order and best isn't cheap .
Hi Chris, I have 1000 feet of wire on my wire diver reels. Is there a reason why you couldn't run 500 feet (or some shorter length) of diver wire backed by an appropriate backer that allows sufficient length? Other wire line set ups (lead core, copper, weighted steel) use backer line. Any reason why diver wire couldn't be set up like these other wire lines? Thanks Chris

Yes you can run backer. I even mentioned it in the video. But I highly recommend that you still have 1000 feet of wire.

run the full 1000 feet. sure its alot of line but all said and done a year or two few tangles u got 700 left and u got it out 200 a big king hits runs u out 300 feet which is common and you have 200 feet left and if in a triple header and hands are full id be worried about knots etc backer knots etc.
Why do u run a smaller diver on ur high diver and the bigger one on ur low diver? Why not run both the same size? Also when will the next purple taco fly contest happen?
Never hear how far to the side Divers go from Boat. On each setting ??
Is wire a 2 to 1 like braid.

Very close on the #1 setting.
Did I miss how you tie the wire to the driver?

It’s been covered several times in the past so I didn’t do it again, but here is a helpful video. kzread.info/dash/bejne/noSGk86zf9yyeco.html
Chris, if you use a mag diver for your high diver on a three setting what does that do to your 3:1 ratio? Does the extra weight change your 3:1 ?
@tangledtacklefishing
Жыл бұрын
It will change the ratio. The only time I use a mag for a high diver is when I'm using it for trout on the bottom.
