Dionne's breathing, vocals& the way she uses the microphone wow she was spectacular. That period when watch what she was doing it's amazing, difficult, brilliant, classic...

I just listened to this cover of hers and was completely impressed!!! Yeah, Ms. Dionne kinda gets lost in talks when discussing vocal greats but she's right there with them!

One of the greatest voices of the 20th century. I begged my parents to take me to see her live when I was 8. Truly gifted and talented. Amazing that that family line produced so many phenomenal singers. Whitney, Cissy, Dionne and Leontyne Price, I believe.

I so remember her when I was a pre-schooler in the 60s listening to her on the radio and loving her voice. She was and always is a fave .

I hate that she started chain smoking and lost her voice because her and Burt Bacharach used to go hard.

Well I partially agree because the effect of chainsmoking started setting in her SIXTIES. 6 AND 0. It's insane and showed how Dionne is such a vocal master strategist because she knew how to work around the inhibitors from the smoking for decades. She should've gone fully hoarse, breathy and short in her late 30s. And yet many of her most incredible performances were in her FIFTIES. 5 AND 0. She is fate-defying.

@@fajarsetiawan8665 no her voice started to decline as she hit 50. her vocal peak was in her 40s from about 79-85. She could still hit the notes and sing as light as a feather ; but the smoking also thickened and darkened her voice giving her a very mature, seductive unique tone.

@@robertd2499 yes it is declining because age does affect after all. But again because Dionne had such discipline and how masterful she is vocally, she could compensate for her vocal deterioration with techniques. Most pop singers don't know what to do once their voice starts declining.
