Peerless Dionne Warwick. She looks like a Greek Goddess up their with singing powerful enough to turn The Parthenon to rubble. I️ saw her sing this live in 1979 and it was wholly cathartic and in that same STUNNING gown.

@@singingmanmd Well I was there too, Oliver. There were two shows, both recorded live. The early show for Showtime and the late show, that I attended and this version is from, for Soundstage and the PBS networks. I have seen Dionne live double digit times and this is the best concert I ever saw. Her voice that night was in rare form and the audience was the most enthusiastically responsive I ever saw. The bulk of the concert is here on KZread if you search Park West.

@@Djm8520 You mean that she did 2 shows in one night!!?? I have seen Ms. Dionne about 27 times. However, it was the 80s and up to 2013 was my last I believe. Too young to see her in the 70s. Damn, I wish I was there to have seen this show!! Ms. Dionne throws all the way down live!!! She is Always full of vocal surprises!! Thanks for sharing!! Ms. Dionne is my favorite!! That voice is phenomenal ❤❤❤ and one of kind!!

3:16 - 3:20 Sustained F5 Underestimate Dionne and you're toast. This diva loves fegning weakness. Dionne actually has a wider live belting range than her cousin, Whitney, who is widely considered The Greatest Voice of All. Sure, she loves singing low with her Contralto register but don't make the mistake of thinking that Dionne can't belt really high notes. She sure can.

@@singingmanmd Dionne Warwick is a force to be reckoned with. Luther Vandross remade a lot of her songs that you probably didn't even know were hers. Anyone who had a heart is hers for an example. Her songs have been sampled and remade throughout the years and she's never really gotten credit for it. She helped define a whole sound in music with her multiple hits back in the day. If the Grammys had existed during her time, she would have racked up every single year.

Anyone...was a million seller for her, A House is Home.. was a hit too. Just about all the classics of Ms. Dionne's that Luther did cover were pretty major hits for Ms. Dionne. Should her records have been even bigger for her and should she even have gotten more recognition for them absolutely 💯-Yes. Alot of black artist records sells were not accounted for back then. Yes, Ms. Dionne is an icon and Phenomenal pioneer. However, back then in the early 60s, the powers that be wouldn't dare to give a young black woman like Ms. Dionne the full credit she deserves as they SOMEWHAT would today. She paved the way today for those that are not even many that are even close to her level or standard of vocal talent. However, she was still an international renowned star when she started. However, if she was white, her success back then would have been limitless!! Currently, they still try to undermined her great contributions to music which is a damn shame. Luckily, for social media too much can't be hidden these days!! So, she kinda getting a few flowers today, but still not many as she deserves. Another note, Ms. Dionne did start her career a few years after the first Grammys. She a 6 time Grammy Award Winner. In 1980, I believe she was the first to ever win 2 grammys in the same year for 2 major vocal categories: vocal R&B and Pop Categories. I love Ms. Dionne. I am a huge fan and she was singing before I was born, but I have did extensive research bc I am a huge fan, lol. I have learned alot of my own vocal abilities from studying her music and her singing like so many others have done as well.

A prime example of an artist singing a song better than the artist who originated it. Dionne looked like she was trynna fend off the Holy 👻 👐🏾 ⛪ from taking over @ the end!! She said "If I get happy & start dancing I'm gon' rip this 👗 & this bitch is on line to me, & even though I can easily afford it, a bitch still ain't trynna pay $ if I ain't got to!!"
