I saw her in concert many years ago in Portsmouth. England. I am so grateful for my Dad giving me this music to listen to.

just came from cynthia erivo's performance and ms. warwick looks so beautiful and i love how emotional she sings it. Both ladies did so well and it is so fortunate to have music with incredible singers to back it up

@@elliekatesmith6363 The formal style was much better back then. This appearance was from the 1967 Academy Awards. She was the 43rd artist to record "Alfie," but the first to make it a hit. She was 26 years old in this performance. There was both style and substance. The current crop of young women could learn style cues from these types of blasts from the past. Good style and substance is still appreciated.

The artist of a lifetime. There will never be another Dionne Warwick..or a songwriting team like Burt & Hal. I miss the days of the great entertainers.

Amen...I'm 62, heard 'em all. No one can hang with Dionne man. Love Gladys, Diana Ross, Streisand of course was amazing. But no ones timbre can match Dionnes, her unique sound. Of coure Bacharach and David supplied some great vehicles for her extraordinary talent. Love Karen Carpenter too! Wish I could go back...oops, I almost forgot beautiful Marilyn McCoo! She had wicked skills.

@Skinny Bones Jones Let me add this. Streisand had the greatest voice in human history technically. Amazing power, range, beauty, control and even soul. I love Streisand. But it's kind of like ice cream, your favorite might be strawberry, mine is pistachio. So what we're really saying I guess when we say someone is the best, is she's my favorite because I like the sound of her voice and her style the most.

What an absolute masterpiece Dionne is. If a human ever was to be a vessel of perfect song - Dionne is it.

I first sang this song at the age of 13 years old and I still cry when I hear it or song it today. A truly beautiful haunting song!!!

I enjoy singing this song. No matter how much I practise & attempt to wrap myself in the lyrics & the tune, I feel indebted to Dionne Warwick, and the gender difference does not matter...we have all (unless in a monastery) known at least one Alfie in our life. That is where I receive my personal inspiration -- direct from Salt Lake City & all the corruption that emanates from that dreadful place. What's it all about, Alfie?

Cilla Black did not want the song until Burt Bacharach caved in to her unusual requests and demands. Since it was a British film, the movie personnel wanted a British singer. Strange, but true. Dionne nearly did not record it. Thank goodness she did. She got it in one take.

Perfection by Dionne Warwick singing the beautiful lyrics and music of songwriters: Burt Bacharach / Hal David. The song is so powerful, I still remember vividly seeing the movie Alfie and hearing the song at the Drive-in in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia in 1966.

I am so thank ful for being able to expierince the60's.. music as we know it. had reached a high state of evolution. the variety. The people performers. top of the line class act of the sixties Miss Dionne Warwiclk.

What a beauty, what voice, what a song.... definitely a high tide mark in class and music.

This song gets me every time no matter how many times I have listened to it over the years and no one does it better than Dionne Warwick.

When she hits the high notes it sends a chill up my spine !

Gosh, if only we had singers today who were even half as good as Dionne in the Golden Age of American popular music. Maybe if we hold our breaths a breakthrough artist will emerge?

Be honest, there are good singers today but they are singing stuff you don't like. They have run out of ideas to appeal to a wider audience. But they can sing.

70's music was so beautiful and heartfelt. I miss everything about the 70's when my dad would drive the family on road trips to visit family far far away for holidays, my heart would beat soo fast the closer we got to our family far away. Thank you to all these special artists for all those beautiful memories through their music!!! Happy Thanksgiving to my family far far away and my dad in heaven. I miss our wonderful rides in that old pontiac catalina listening to these great oldies-I'll cherish them until we meet again pop. l love you, always a daddy's girl 😘😘💞💖💕💓💓

Both Aretha and Dionne had hits on the 80s when Whitney became popular, both charted for many decades, sadly Whitney didn’t live long enough to know if she would have more in her career. It’s hard to imagine singers of today having careers spanning five or six decades.

Historically, speaking, hers was not the 1st recording of this marvelous & insightful song. There were a lot of others, which Dionne Warwick speaks about in other KZread videos. Hers was just the best of all, the definitive performance. As with many artists, she did not sing this song by rote, she has worked it so that she has imbedded more than one style & interpretation to it, but the essential message remains the same--love can happen, even for those men who would abuse the concept--love can still redeem them, if they want it.

@@MyTimeOutt Historically speaking, the song was written for her. The movie producers wanted Cilla Black instead of Dionne. Understandably, DW wasn't interested in recording it after that and Bacharach nagged her into finally doing it. The 43rd person to record Alfie and had the most success with it in the USA.
