Wanja [Nechtan] Gröger damn haha
3:29 I find that blast beat, exactly where it's placed in the song, is so tasteful.
The video and sound quality for your videos haven't always been the best, but they've always felt like perfect videos to me. I feel that it adds a major sense of "independent" and "underground" status to your work. Anyone hating on the quality of your videos is missing the big picture; kill 'em all.

Thanks! In times where programmed drums or triggering and quantizing are common in album productions I think it is important to show that even a good drummer normally does not sound as perfect as this kind of albums suggest. Especially as a beginner it can be very frustrating to listen to overproduced stuff if you don't have a clue of all the studio magic that went into it. And that is why I like to keep it "honest" ;)

but your accuracy is awesome. I love to play this too with drums but i hardly can do this this exact. Dimmu's beats are basicaly "simple" (except speed) but the huge variance of timings, beat-intensity etc... makes it hard for me to keep all the details in mind. .. how is it at your level? I mean.. at songs where all timings fit to my playstile and that i know by heart i don't need training b4 actualy, but they are in general more simple. Like the "for all tid"-songs for example. btw: I'd love to see you "trying" reptile xD
Just finding this video 5 years after you made it lol. Better late than never! What a great job!
Awesome drumming!!! I like the trigger sound, they grew on me over the years.
solche musik ich höre zum einschlafen
Couldn´t even handle simple 4/4 on drums and coordination.....my respect to you as musician! I admire People who can do those Things.

Actually drumcovers are very difficult for me because it forces me to do things that I was not good at before. In this song for example there is this 6/8th note blast beat with the closed HiHat that opens every three hits - it is stupid how much time I had to spend to get that down! The coordination just didn't work. But this way I get better at learning things effectively ;)

Thanks for the answer!! Learning other man's song is hard indeed! And as you said note by note covers are very beneficial :)
Das Cover ist Spot-On! Einer meiner Lieblingssongs von Dimmu Borgir.
Outstanding! As always.
Dude, I know I am three years late but you fucking nailed it down pat. Dimmu should seriously contact you if their drummer ends up leaving. Great job!
Flawless victory
Senssacional. Cada nota bem tocada. Ganhou um escrito

Awesome 🤘🏼 how about a play through of Renewal? :)
Great cover! By the way, I don't see/hear any problem with the triggers. Maybe the problem doesn't come from the source... Keep bringing those covers!

@CottonInDerTube

He does. He said on another video comment why. I think the reason was because its easier to record. Also he told me he dont correct the beats. Only if there are ghost notes from the trigger.

You should totally do the serpentine offering
Omgg awesome, fuck hell yeah!!
Amazing.... Bro a question... May sound like irrelevant... But i want to know how do we tune the snare to sound like that... I tried making it too tight... But it doesn't sound like thesw
@wanjanechtangroeger
6 жыл бұрын
Honestly I don't really know! I only know that in most cases it sounds good to have the resonant head pretty tight and then just experiment with the batter head until it sounds good. In this case the snare also sounds a bit different than in reality because of the mixing.
Wooow, amazing drumming man! How can a human play this ? lol You are amazing drummer, keep rocking. Are those double strokes on the paddle or just singles?
@wanjanechtangroeger
7 жыл бұрын
Single strokes! For more info about my foot technique check out my tutorial here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/poKbwZubaKmomKQ.html
Hey, man, your technique of playing drums is really very high. You can easily play difficult material. I like watching your videos, as in them I find out for myself something new and useful. And, by the way, I would very much like to see your drum cover on Fleshgod apocalypse - Violation. So, you are a good drummer. Like:)
@wanjanechtangroeger

The double bass in that song is still a bit too fast for me ;) I can do 260bpm but not for long enough and also not precise enough but I'm working on it!
just out of curiosity, do you play any other music genres apart from metal aslwell? :)
@wanjanechtangroeger
7 жыл бұрын
I play Cahon in a blues/rock/singer-songwriter band and drums in a more rock orientated band. For example like this: kzread.info/dash/bejne/onaG0sGSmqXHhKQ.html
what cymbals are you using in this video?
лайк!!! кпасавчик
I like Dimmu
What is sad is Wanja covers Dimmu Borgir and only gets 5k views--Brooke C covers Tool and everyone loses thier fucking minds,; giving her 4.4m views. This world is coming to an end.

I guess for most non-drummers it is more enjoyable to watch a good looking female doing medium stuff than watching a male doing harder stuff. Also female drummers are much more rare than male drummers (which is a shame!). I have often asked myself how many subs I would have if I were female and had the same skill as I have now :D However there are also female drummers who are extremely skilled and who really deserve the attention like e.g. Anika Nilles.

Tight playing bro! Holy shit, is there any song that you cannot play? Plans to cover Behemoth soon? Ov fire and void? At the left hand ov god? I know you dig Behemoth Greetings and cheers from your biggest fan from finland!
fuck yeah dude thank you so much for doing this cover!!!
I find that you had the triggers too bright on this one it kind of defeats the purpose of a bass drum if it's not BASS and is your brightest drum that honor should go to your eight inch tom byt still great cover love this song
that double bass gave me a nosebleed. Jesus thats fast
IS IT POSSIBLE TO DO CLEAN ACCURATE DOUBLE STROKES AT THIS TEMPO ? I HAST NOT HEARD IT YET

allehelgens død i helveds rike would have been a good choice. I hope you listen to the full song, it's one of my favorites. If you would like to show off some technical skill, indoctrination would be a better choice. It's from the album puritanical euphoric misanthropia.
hey man can you do a cover of bleed by meahuggah?

bro you gotta do "opening of the gates" by Morbid Angel. there is still not one legitimate cover of that song.

That's a bit too fast on double bass for me - and as far as I know even Pete himself plays only 8th note triplets live instead of the 16th notes that are on the album.

Wanja [Nechtan] Gröger I can't even find a time where they even played to song live but if there was any drummer who could get it's you bub.

One of my favourite drummers, but i don't like pop-music.
Great drumming, but FUCK.. those triggers sounds fucking awful. Way too loud.
@wanjanechtangroeger
7 жыл бұрын
It needs to be that loud to overpower the original drums in the song. It would sound very confusing it you could hear both my bass drum and the original because I am not THAT precise that every hit lies exactly on top of the original hit.

Do you also EQ the original track to take out as much of the drums as possible?
@wanjanechtangroeger

I had done it once but it actually sounded very bad - so I decided to not do it anymore. I think the whole point of a drumcover is not to sound as good as possible but to show that I can play that song.
i dont like the kick triggers :/
