"COUNCIL OF WOLVES AND SNAKES" LYRICS:
Nomads plunging into the vast abyss
Unattached, fleeting through the chasm
Naked in pure darkness
Embracing the new dawn
We are gods here for the taking
Yield to the dragon's embrace
We are gods
Yield to the dragon's embrace
As pawns in this secret game
No one knows nothing
Yet, in the realm of sacred play
Everyone knows everything
A winged and secret flame
Leaving this paradigm
A dimension we are set to flee
We are gods in the making
We are here for the taking
Yield to the dragon's embrace
We are of transcendence
We are wolves and snakes
A winged and secret flame
Leaving this paradigm
A dimension we are set to flee
The arrival is in the departure
We are sculpted into life
By the hands of death

2:47-4:21 That is legitimately one of the most beautiful instrumental sections I've ever heard. The choral singing is so haunting and beautiful, the guitar is so soulful and powerful... the whole song just exhumes a gloriously dreadful and primal atmosphere, and is wonderful overall... but this part is just my favorite.

That's my favourite part too!! It is so calm and atmospheric, distinctively contrasting from the rest of the song! It's like a period of calm and piece between wars (between the wolves and the snakes obviously). And the "dragon" who summoned the council is sitting somewhere afar, watching them beating each other for the sake of power, while enjoying popcorn xD

I started off with Cradle Of Filth first with Babylon A.D then Sorgens kammar del ll. I never thought I'd even like Black Metal cause I started off with bands like Korn, Evanescence, and Slipknot then gradually slipped into metalcore but then I got bored of that over a while and got hooked on deathcore. The extremity made me want more. And the atmospheric instrumentals really catch my attention along with symphonic elements. Blackened Deathcore in my opinion is so beautiful. Carnifex, Chelsea Grin and Betraying The Martyrs gradually got me into the black metal scene. But not just any black metal but the kind where it has breakdowns cause I live for breakdowns. That's where COF and DB had that influence on me and the vocals are superb. I mainly listen to Cradle Of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, and Chelsea Grin today. My three favorite bands handsdown.

I wasn't too sure at first, but the more I listen to, the more I WANT to listen to this track... I don't know, it reminds me of some classic Dimmu, I get moments of old school black metal roots, but then something entirely new and different, that primal feel with something else, I can't put my finger on it....but I like it...truly hoping to hear more like this.

I'm a big fan of their music, and yeah I really love Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia...but I don't want them to just do another one of that. A lot of the negative response seems to be about them NOT just doing what they've done previously. I don't want them to be like Cradle of Filth, constantly burping out the same album over and over. They're experimenting and evolving their sound, and that's awesome. It's not 2001 anymore. Why should Dimmu cling onto the sound and style of music they were making 15 - 20 years ago? Because some fans are stuck in the past and want to be Trve Kult posers? Sod that. Dimmu are evolving their sound and I'm all for it.

When this song started, that intro when it drops, I thought it was a song from Enthrone. It is amazing. I love how the song starts off with the very folky Scandinavian melodies, then after the chorus become more of a haunting gospel. All the while the older melody style from enthrone darkness really shine through. Ps Enthrone Darkness Triumphant is my favorite album, but I love everything they make, even Gateways and their way more area rock inspired stuff.

out of all black metal bands I have tracked over the years, Dimmu has truly gotten better and better, they are very much about evolving oneself and they have been a shining example of that. Their philosophy has become more refined and are now entering what I would see as truly adept. When I watched the Gateways - forces of the northern night video. I know that I am not watching a music video but rather a sermon that is unmatched in truth and sincerity.

I also like the older albums like _Stormblåst_ and _Enthrone Darkness Triumphant_ , but if they had continued with this style they would probably have become one of these all-the-songs-sound-the-same-bands, and quite frankly I don't think I would be listening to them in 2018.

The so good feels like a journey with the slower, dark beginning then the transition that goes into total old school Dimmu, which that riff is insanely goid, then a more atmospheric black metal riff, going back into that nasty old school Dimmu riff. I was absolutely blown away by this whole album, and I have been listening to Dimmu since 2002; their first albums were so classically black metal and then they progressed into beautiful symphonic black metal and NOW they are at this level where I feel like they are pushing the limits of what symphonic black metal is and they are delving into this new area and it's amazing and I hope they do more. I really miss Vortex and his clean vocals but to hear Shagrath do such amazing clean vocals on this is just excellent. 🤘

This track is probably their most experimental to date, yet it's also primitive and dark. The heavy guitar reminds me a bit of Mgla. I was afraid they were turning into Epica/Nightwish, but I'm really digging this track!

Scriosin I agree. Black metal isn't always Gorgoroth's Penagram and Antichrist, or 1349's first three albums. Black metal has its softer moments; for instance, Carpathian Forest's Black Shining Leather, and some tracks from Immortal. Besides, Dimmu Borgir and Satyricon are pioneers of third wave of black metal. Or, as some call it, "black and roll".
