Dimebag TONES | Amplitube 5 MAX
Darrell Lance Abbott (August 20, 1966 - December 8, 2004), best known by his stage name Dimebag Darrell, was an American musician and songwriter. He was the guitarist of the heavy metal bands Pantera and Damageplan, both of which he co-founded alongside his brother Vinnie Paul. Today we are going to check out his tones as delivered by Amplitube 5 MAX edition, just for my buddy Gary 'Big G' Tholander one of my incredible patrons! Enjoy!

This new version of the Amplitube software really does seem to deliver. I have to confess that I never heard of Dimebag (Dimebag rocks, apparently) but I trust your judgement that these presets get that particular sound. I tried an earlier version of Amplitube, maybe 10 years ago or more, and I thought that the sounds were fizzy and unconvincing but this version is very impressive. I've had a play with the free version you recommended and they seem to have found a way to replicate the response of a valve amp running near full power. It's hard to put into words but I've heard guitarists talk about 'sag' and that makes sense to me. What it can never do is to replicate the feeling you get through your hands; the way a guitar vibrates and feels alive when you have the amp up loud. Perhaps I just need to get bigger studio monitors. Great demo Mike. Thank you.

This video really doesn’t do it justice just how accurate most of them are.. With a little adjustment you can pretty much get any tone you’ve ever heard from Dime.

I've actually never listened to Pantera, but Dimebag rocks! apparently. :-) LOVED those tones - identifiably \m/etal, loved the distortion and high end. I might have to look into Amplitube at some point, especially as I'm a bit rubbish when it comes into dialling in my own tones (reverb, reverb, reverb!). Cheers for the video.

@@Chinaguitarsceptic Great minds! I was just doing that when your message came through. It never ceases to amaze me how I seem to mangle tones and the like...I was using an Anthrax IR the other day and managed to make it sound like the Bangles. 😂 (I liked the result and I love the Bangles, but...)

Hello! Can you help me with how this works? (I am dutch so sorry for bad english) I want the Amplitube too, but I don't know what I need for it. Where does the sound come ound? Where do you need to plug you guitarcable in? Do you just buy it on a website and that's it?

Yes this is a software modeller so all the sounds are produced within your computer. You need an audio interface like I use (focusrite 2i2 in my case). You plug the guitar into the interface, select that interface from the software as your input and then the audio will automatically also come out of the interface headphones and output too. Sounds complicated but actually worth the 2i2 it's really easy and simple.
