Omg Lol Patricia I’ve never heard this story! Do you know where I can find that interview?? 😆 I wonder why he couldn’t just get whatever support team he had in China, or even just Alai & spend a day shopping in China haha. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an interview with his mom/parents yet.

It had been many grueling months of eliminations way before the 13 week televised eliminations, he had been enrolled to start his Master's thinking he'd make it about halfway thru the initial ones and go to school !! Most people don't realize until this Singer interlude, he's remained a fulltime student, 3 back to back degrees, and all his performances, projects etc have been scheduled around his studies, his major thrust until recently, just about to complete his Doctoral thesis, free for the 1st time ! They had all gone home, while they scrambeled for clothes, he was ostensibly alone in China, with his coach and a translator, having to learn a new song every week, couldn't speak the language, his Dad still had a fulltime job, his brother & sister still in primary school, & Kazakh version of middle school, Mom taking care of them and her Mom and his parents, they all live under the same roof. And he wanted 3 selections !!? Typical guy ! She had commented to folks, they knew what a terrible strain he was under, but the family had to function, and no one knew how long this would go on. There's more but I've probably overstayed my welcome, hee !! 🥂 HAPPY NEW YEAR LULU !! Pat ps came back, wanted to tell you that when they all moved to Nur Sultan, Sveta's Mom moved in with another family member and I need to ask my sister if she moved back. That family is so big and close, 3 nephews, and an Uncle are probably living there !! Ha !

That's exactly just ONE of the MANY, MANY things I just adore about him....he surprises me every single time. God, he is way too good. And he just has gotten infinitely better! I loved Freddy Mercury but I have realized that Dimash just surpasses him now in every aspect.Thanks for your reaction to this! ( and I do worry about how bad his knees are gonna be in a few years!)

I don’t think there’s any point in comparing legends. Freddie will always be in his own universe.. & we are just beginning to discover Dimash’s universe. Freddie has a fire passion & grit that comes from his life experiences. Who knows what he would’ve been like if he’d had the love & support of parents, & education Dimash did! Instead he had a lot of the opposite. The drugs and other aspects of his personal life too, limited what might have been even more without it. Wonder what Dimash would have been like without his upbringing- would we still know his name? No matter.. Freddie was made to be Freddie, & Dimash was made to be Dimash. God only knows what the future holds… ✨

Let's all agree that both Freddie and Dimash have their special places in our hearts. I must now consider myself a #Dear #Queenie

It really took me a long time to be able to listen to this song without prejudice. But now I love and respect Dimash, and his efforts to learn the English language, and am now able to fully appreciate this song and the difficulties he faced without the language being familiar to him. I now love it for itself, and even find myself using his 'Dinglish' when listening to the Queen version! 💞🦌

God I know right? It’s pretty amazing how he changes your listening after a while. Also how his music will infect you & visit you at the strangest moments when you’re not even thinking about him or music- at least for me, just sticks to your mind & soul. I had my favorites with him & then the less favorite- after a short time there grows this appreciation for each and every one. And god yes his dinglish!! I will be very sad if it goes away completely. Like the section in All By Myself from The Singer (& subsequent performances) where he pretty much butchers the English language lol. I love it & it takes away from nothing. Sound & energy are his real languages 💛💛💛

I think I've seen this performance 50 times, lol. And STILL got insane chills from those last 4 notes. There's nothing I can do, it happens every time 😂😂😂. Whew, what a legend he is!

That was in 2017 and he had just one week to prepare and learn the song phonetically cause back than he didn't new English at all......I think he did a great job .

I've seen behind-the-scenes footage of one of the contestants who joined Singer much later in the season gifting Dimash a pair of knee pads just before or after he rehearsed. No idea whether he used them, but I haven't seen him do quite such heavy drops to his knees in quite some time, if that makes you feel better.😉 And yes, he outdoes any covers so that they almost become brand new songs. The response of the artists he has covered is very telling to me about their generosity and humanity, and even love of music. Some have excluded him from obtaining the rights to ever sing their music again, while others, including Lara Fabian, have celebrated his musical genius and ability.

Argh! do you know where I can see those behind the scenes?? I’ve heard of these moments- or another one I saw where the older guy gives Dimash “more precious than gold” Chinese medicine when he had his serious throat issue. Yet when I went & watched the actual episodes online- that stuff wasn’t in there & I’ve never been able to find it. Yes he’s usually better at how he drops to his knees. But it doesn’t look like he’s ever wearing knee pads! I did see some clip in his blue Adagio suit where he was being photographed for like episode promo photos or something, seemed to be after his performance - & as a stylist adjusts his pants where his legs were bended- he clearly winces from the pain in his knees 🥺 I’ve never cared more deeply for a person I did not know than this exquisite creature & beautiful human being 💛💛💛

One of his most underrated performances, top 10 Dimash for me and that's no easy feat. I know the English is terrible, but with 12 languages, how often do we understand what he is saying, why should English be any different LOL I do appreciate that his English has improved since then.

There are only two renditions of this song that I can think of who have done this song and Freddie justice, those are of course Dimash & Celine!

You watched a 22 years old Dimash with his first English song. At that time, he had a 4 Word English “hello My name is dimash”. He did way better since then. He could conversely fluently now with dimash diction of course. He did a really good Jon then that even Freddie would be proud of. But I want to watch How he Will song it now. The now dimash.

Thank you. Dimash learned this in 1 wk and he barely knew any English at the time. I think that he did a fine job though. Everyone worries about his knees! They gave him knee pads during this show. :D He's having his 3rd rhinitis operation soon. He dropped out of Shine Super Brothers because of flare ups. I hope they fix his problem this time.

Where do you hear that he’s having his 3rd, where did you hear about the 1st 2? I am seeing this in comments- but have no idea how to go to the source, please? Makes me mad because I know people that had these surgeries pushed on them by doctors over & over & continue to have problems- when all they needed was a daily quick neti pot !!😣 surgeries are dangerous & not always necessary, or clearly don’t help like needing multiple ones! grrr

I absolutely love the strings in the beginning. They really highlight the beauty of the melody of this song. Fantastic choice and what a performance. Amazing as always.

He was just beginning to learn tne English language when he made this performance. I think preparation time was so short for him to learn the proper pronunciation of some words.

Great reaction, his English has really improved since he sang this song. I suspect his years of practising taekwondo may have taught him how to fall properly on his knees, or hardened them up a bit 🤞

I think he takes a level of pain or physical sacrifice for his work to be honest. But also- some people are different. I’m very breakable but my ex seriously had bones made of steel & could take hits that would make tough guys twice his size cry & limp away.

I think so too - it doesn't hurt him because he knows how to do it. I've noticed he always does it with the same technique. He first "lands" himself and only then his knees, so he doesn't actually fall from high. It just looks dramatic. 😁

@@paivyt. well in show must go on and adagio he doesn’t really do that- he smacked down HARD, but he usually does do it with the better technique. Even with the technique.. I dare you to try it on a hard surface ;) He definitely has sustained some injuries at times. There’s a clip somewhere of him doing a photo shoot in his blue suit clearly after the Adagio performance… an assistant adjusts his pants around where he has a bent leg to look better for the shot, & he very obviously winces when the pant leg gets pulled at his knees.

@@lolawants2008 Yes, those landings were more rapid, I agree. Maybe he became more careful after that. I have seen that clip and I wonder if Dimash was just joking. It would be just his style (to react so if someone touches him that way). He didn't show any pain in other videos. BTW, The whole photo shooting was awkward, they handled him like a doll 😅

@@paivyt.yes it was odd. I notice he seems to go down on his toes or feet bent then his knees, at times perhaps he gets too carried away. I've not seen him do this at all for a long time though 🤔

Hi, Dimash makes every song his own, it's incredible, it never loses its essence. And people, haha, stand up to clap, while Dimash falls to his knees. I hope he has been wearing knee pads. Please he reacts to "Over here", even though it doesn't have an official video, it's beautiful. Happy New Year .

My favorite moment of this is at 4:47, because it shows Dimash's presence of mind on stage. At the end of the guitar solo, Dimash and the electric guitarist switch positions so that the guitarist can exit the stage. But that electric guitar is on a cord, and Dimash actually STEPS OVER the cord; in fact it's a sidestep. I'm sure I would have tripped over the thing, but Dimash -- all 6'3" of him -- steps over it gracefully without even looking down. I'm not sure there's any good way to rehearse that. Good god.

I just discovered a Dimash performance I hadn't seen. "Your Love" Moscow 2020. Absolutely blew me away. I think it's actually now my fave Dimash performance -- at least until his next one. Lol. (Really enjoy your reactions with Lucas, too.) Already subscribed and notified.

The things Dimash can do while holding such strong, straight, clear notes - skipping, kneeling, dropping to his knees, sitting cross-legged on the floor or even atop a piano bench - are nothing short of phenomenal. His entire body, out to and including those dancing fingertips of his, is an exquisite, masterfully-built, and beautifully-maintained instrument.

Wouldn't it have been Something! if Freddie was still with us & they got up on stage together. { Where's that damn Tardis when you need it!? } Yes - hit his knees hard here. Heard he was in pain after. Doesn't seem to have learned his lesson though. Seems to take a lot better care of his vocal chords than his knees. ... Having worked with surgical & orthopaedic rehab teams... gotta tell you that an ounce of prevention is always a Thousand times better than a pound of cure... I can also tell you that not every knee replacement surgery is a complete success - let alone a double knee replacement... Maybe he's wearing some kind of support strapping subsequently that we can't see? Hope so! Hmmm.
