Overall they are pretty close to each other. Ivader has a little bit more mids and sounds a bit bigger. Super Distortion more cleaner and thighter.

I like the invader in drop tuning superstrats. But the super distortion has that "classic" 80's vide it's just so iconic. It's really "that sound" quality everyone was chasing.

I think I like the Super Distortion..because it sounds so familiar...all my favorite guitarists must use it

Super Distortion sounds less fuzzy and tighter. Easy win.

No it’s not brother. I have an invader set. And u are wrong lol they are not the best. I’ve had that one set in several different guitars and they all had the same problem. If u want to be heavy u are better off with an SH-6b or something. Invader only does 1 thing. If u don’t believe me, spend the $180 and see for urself

@@sinisterminister9920 Lol, first of all I already have an Invader in a LP, second it's not $180 it was $80 when I bought it, and third the sh6 doesn't have the aggression and low end. Sure, the Invader doesn't do crunchy break up sounds, but it's still good for crystal clear cleans if your amp has the headroom. It's the most brutal for high gain when you have a good amp that's EQ'd correctly. I really like the sh6 as well, though. And it definitely looks cool 😎

@@sinisterminister9920 I did and it was the best thing i'd ever done. I found they work best clean with the treble and mids boosted. I replaced ALL my pickups with invaders. They are extremely versatile when EQd correctly. For me they work best for metal, jazz, and ambient. They truly are the best.

I use both of these for metal. The DiMarzio is more defined and chugs better. The Invader is a deeper sound and very powerful but not as defined. They both have their uses. If I had to choose it would have to be the D Marzio. It's pure quality.

Makes me really wonder about a super 3 vs an invader

my main takeaway is these pickups are both awesome. grab either and then focus on the amp.

I have dimarzio super distortions on all of my guitars except for 1. I have 2 ibenez RG's. A 93 mim fender stratocaster. A mim player series fender stratocaster. A mim player series HH fender telecaster. A fender aerodyne stratocaster. All with dimarzio super distortion pickups in the bridge. The only guitar that I didn't bother putting them in is my Gibson Les Paul, that has P90's. I think those pickups are fine and i can play with them. Pretty close to the dimarzio super distortion. But a little less oomph. I use to play EMG's in all of my guitars. They sounded good to me, and they was great for recording with. But one day I decided to try a passive pickup again. So I tried a dimarzio super distortion. That's my go to now. I have a friend who tried convincing me that the invaders were better. I played one of his guitars with one, and i wasn't sold. Dimarzio super distortion is my pickup of choice.

Super Distortion is God of Metal

Ive spent a lot of time on this. To the point I should have just tried them all. But Ive to a point now that a pickup like the Invader may sound best in my SG. (Have one in a Guild S100) And something like the Duncan Distortion or Dimarzio Super Distortion in my Les Paul. Its a bright versus dark thing.

I have an invader set that has been in 2-3 of my guitars. Long story short. They are in a box on my shelf and have since been replaced. They do 1 thing VERY well. And as a Metal player whom likes to also play clean/bluesy stuff before working my way up to hi gain when I play. This is a problem. Invaders are fine if u want a sludgey guitar and tone, but don’t expect the invader to sound crisp when u clean up the gain.

Invader sounds thicc, mids are awesome, output is a savage!! just if SD kick down the bass a bit it will sound even better. i understand the whole purpose of invader is having that insane amount of bass, but for people who like the output of this pickup will end up cutting down the low frequency in the mix. Nice comparison though.

The Invader has alot of low mids like the Super Distortion..thats why they sound similar.. Good thing with thicker sounding pups is they don't sound thin out if you eq some of the bass out.

I have both on my Kramer guitar bridge dimarzzio and on Hamer guitar bridge Invader. I like them both if I can take best from one and best from the other I will have perfect pick up.

Dimarzio SD sounds tighter. Invader sounds deeper in the bass register.

Great job. This video was very helpful. SD sounds a little fatter and sweeter which is great but it seems less defined or needs more boost when playing more aggressive stuff for my taste. I go for Invader for more aggressive playing and think it will also cover more styles of play to my ears' EQ preference.

Invaders sit at $100 on SD's website, but I got a set of them for about $170 on Amazon. Dimarzios range between $89-$105, depending on the custom look you're going for. They've got a lot of options, which I think is really cool.

Am i the only one who thinks these pickups sound pretty much the same, like i don't notice much of a difference at all
