I have the same guitar, I gotta say, those stock pickups suck lol. Bought some new ones for it, looking forward to getting some new fridge magmets out of the old ones lol.

+Ben S Thanx! Both are fantastic guitars but I prefer the 25,5" scale of this guitar (the RGD has an 26.5" scale) especially when I play strechy stuff. The quallity of them are pretty much the same.

Tjena! Tackar! På just denna gitarren fick jag karva bort lite trä eftersom mickarna var lite för djupa. Dock är Dimarzios mickar för 7-strängat platta i botten till motsats till 6-strängsvarianterna som är av traditionell typ. Jag har Crunchlab/Liquifire på en 6:a och det var inga som helst problem. :)

hi niclas...are focusrite 2i4 and kemper good match? I have 2i4, should I go for a better audio interface (rme babyface pro or apollo twin usb) or kemper?

Hey man! Right on. Good question!? Got any experience playing a X2N or D-Activator, or any hot Humbucker with single coils for some tight metal? Testament influenced. Got a Jackson H-S-S setup but gutting it today and buying local DiMarzio single coils for Middle and neck...

I have D-Activator in one guitar and they're quite nice. A bit to high output for my taste but pretty flat in the eq so it's easy to dial in a good sound.

@Niclas Karlsson I typed the whole thing wrong multi-tasking at home. I wanted to ask if you, if you tried single coils with any of these Humbuckers. After single coils with my D-Activator and X2N.

+Joseph Bailey Actually I'm a Seymour Duncan guy but I wanted green pups in this guitar for the Visuals and it was easier to buy colored DiMarzios instead of Duncans ( custom shop ... ) but they are really good and I like them. Very tight and clear sound. If not I think I would put in SD Custom or Distortion in the bridge and 59 or jazz in the neck.

Niclas Karlsson Nice, I was looking at the Nagzul Sentient set. I have an RG7420 and heard you have to grind out some material in the pickup recesses on this guitar. Do you know by chance?

I think for some reason the DiMarzios are "deeper" or what you call it but compare the heights on their webpages. If the Nazgul/Sentient are as high as the DiMarzios I'm afraid you have the carve out som Wood... But basswood isn't a hard Wood and I'm sure that pup combo will sound great.

Niclas Karlsson Sweet, well I'm thinking the Duncans may be the way I go. It's come down to the Crunchlab/Liquifire, Titans, and the Nagzul/Sentient set. STill on the fence as I haven't played any of them. Just heard sound bytes.

There are differences between the actual Ibanez RG 7421 and yours ??

Hi! They were a little bit deep so I had to carve out som wood. Maybe if your guitar is one of the new 7421 you maybe don't have to do that. Good luck!

@@James0208 Well, then it's a new modell so hopefully you don't have chop it out. If you look at the Dimarzio page you'll find the dimensions of the pickups!

@@NiclasKarlssonguitarswe i hope so, i'm thinking about dimarzio, seymour duncan or maybe emgs pickups (and try to put the battery inside the box with volumen knob) i still don't know which one... Anyways thanks for the answers and good video by the way
