In the words of the Supreme Court itself, there was no direct evidence proving Afzal's crime, and death sentence was being given to satisfy the 'collective conscience' of the society. This is a bizarre judgement and it is not wrong to critique this judgement, especially in a university. That's all I am saying brother

Even he had some concerns about Afzal's Involvement. 2,600 People rotting in Jail without Trail. Stan swammy died in Jail without Trail. You can't even grasp how many innocents are in jail just because they don't have power or money.

I was a contemporary in jnu politics with him. I have had spats with him. Almost went to blows with him. I was in SFI defending CPIM . He was then in DSU often criticising CPIM and SFI. We have spent time sharing cigarettes on the sidelines of protests sometimes. One thing I can tell about this guy is - He is seedha saadha. True to what he believes. Very good at heart to befriend. Least aggressive in personal life. There cannot be an universe where he could become terrorist or pro-jihadi or JAishe Mohammed or whatever. The Last thing he could do is be anti-national. At best he could be anti-corporate or sometimes too anti-development or industries. But never an anti-national.

Umar,in JNU instance, was clearly visible chanting slogans on these lines in more than 1 video. I don't know why NDTV has deleted a clip, but a young Khalid was seen justifying the celebrations on the Dantewada massacre way back in 2008.

Although I could write tons and go on for hours what this interview meant for me and I am sure to lot of others and to you too, but would leave it at: Inspite of all the pessimism going around and making it's home in the conscience of few of us, it's super gratifying to have experienced the immense grace, dignity and courage with which Banojyotsana introduces her and Umar's life. This video hits every emotions in body....sadness, smiles, anger, grief...everything !!! Less than 1 lakh people out of 140 crore people of this country know the UAPA law and the meaning of Trial, but everybody out there is ready to call him terrorist. Whom to blame ? Media ? I shed a tear listening to how Manmohan Singh actually treated JNU students. In the current world where you can't even have a badmouth for your Prime Minister, he actually had the guts to accept opposing views. Couldn't expect Samdish to actually interview her and bring this to limelight again. Thank you!! This was much needed!!!! We need this kind of content!!! Our country need this kind of content!!!

Good work man, the fact that you bought this interview to us was really inspiring. These are real people who actually fight for true values. The fact that they have to live this tough life and we probably will just watch this and move on with our lives is sad tbh but it feels good to know that they have humor in their lives and all is not lost. Thanks for setting up this interview, it might not catch a lot of views but you did the right thing by bringing this to your audience. Hope justice prevails in the end and he gets out of jail.
