Digital Landscape Painting (Thumbnails)

Creating digital landscape thumbnails requires a different technique than traditional painting. Luckily, illustrator and landscape artist extraordinaire Tiffanie Mang is here to show you everything you’ll need to know to create landscape thumbnails using your favorite art software. She’ll also review the winners of the January Proko challenge.

The challenge was so much fun but difficult cuz I'd never done landscapes before, hell, even colour is tough for me. I'll be re-watching this demo a few more times and tackling thumbnails again. The winners were frigging amazing, hopefully, I'll get to their level someday.

Really detailed, hands on tutorial! Main thing that lost me was not using pure white -- I need more convincing on that. I'm of the opinion that: 1.) many displays are not going to display such a small difference 2.) there's nothing mathematically different about a smudge transformation using pure white (255, 255, 255) vs slightly off-white like (240, 248, 255) unless you're using a blend mode. I'm not against using off white, I do think that looks better, but I'd love a more mechanistic breakdown of the *why*, not just an assertion. Creators like Marco Bucci are really good at this, always asking 1 extra why.

At 9:45 She said straight white doesn't interact as well as off-white (it's in relation to the overall palette). Colour interaction is something you understand when you apply it yourself and it can't be explained right off the bat; atleast that's what I've understood in my three years of artschool-- so I'll try sharing that to the best of my understanding... It can't just be boiled down to a mathematical difference. When you look at a colour palette as a cohesive whole a pure white wouldn't blend in just as a pure blue or red wouldn't. Colors affect eachother and if you want them to look like they're all part of the same environment you need to give them a slightly similar hue to lean on. Her explanation made sense to me; How even a tiny shift in hue does make a difference... And also she did mention that there are few instances she would actually use pure white which means you don't have to completely avoid it. Sorry for the long-ass reply but I hope all this makes sense :)

If you read this I care about you enough to tell you that you have sinned against a Holy God and because of that you are under condemnation and will endure God’s wrath if you do not come to know and believe in His son Jesus Christ who died on the cross so the door to have your sins forgiven could be open and you receive salvation as a free gift if you reject Him you will suffer for all eternity turn from your sinful ways and live a life that is appealing to the Lord and brings Him Glory you don’t have all the time in the world tomorrow is not guaranteed

An appeal from Ukrainian medics to everyone who is helping from abroad. Please share widely. Aid is flowing into Ukraine every day. Hundreds of trucks are bringing clothes, personal hygiene items and food. This is great! We are grateful for your help! Sadly, the most important things are missing from these trucks. There are no tactical first aid supplies. No trauma backpacks, no tactical rescue stretchers, no haemostatic dressing, no blood substitutes. Hundreds of Ukrainians are killed and thousands are wounded by Russian bombs every day. Medics are working around the clock, but they are simply running out of life-saving equipment! Even with donated money, it is nearly impossible to buy the following in Ukraine: 1. Combat application tourniquets CAT Gen 7 (Gen 6), SOFT, SAM, CIЧ Україна - 10 000 items needed 2. Chest seals: HALO and similar - 5000 items needed 3. Haemostatic dressing: QuikClot Combat Gauze and similar - 5000 items needed 4. Emergency burn care: Burnshield Hydrogel (tube, spray, packet, dressing) and similar - 10 000 items needed 5. Israeli Emergency Bandage and similar, size 4", 6", 12" - 5000 items needed 6. Bag valve masks / Ambu bags: Pocket BVM Manual Resuscitator - 2000 items needed 7. Constricting bands NAR BOA IV-CONSTRICTING BAND 30-0009 - 2000 items needed 8.
