What about the preamps and a/d converter? Works well for recording and mixing in the studio? Thanks

I have really only used it in a live situation, not studio. My initial thoughts are that it’s fine. Nothing more, nothing less. A step up from something like a Scarlet, but not at the level of something like an Apollo. So for many this would be a great device, both in studio and live.

I’m planning also to get one, so my question is how you’re using the D? I’ll have that in a second setup with no FIT. Just a small 17ch license and a server one (Digigrid IOS). Is it possible to route two matrixes to the outputs, because you said the headphones are linked to the monitor outputs. Cheers

In practice you have headphones + 1 stereo line out. So the monitor output is more for studio use or if you have a shout box at FOH. You can off course use it as a second stereo line out, but then you lose the practical use of the headphone out. So I would look at it as headphones + main out.

@@joevegna ok thanks… but for a small setup it’s totally fine, as I’m not using tons of matrixes anyways. So you have to make some compromises there, but I’m fine with that. Thanks ✌🏼

Can preamp gain be controled on software control pannel or LV1? I'm surprised to learn those knobs are not stepped encoders calibrated to db, no way to know the current gain, and headphone share the mix with out 1&2. Consider its price and how good other Waves IOs are, this is kind of a let down.

The pre amp can not be controlled on the LV1. Only on the unstepped and unmarked gain knob. For my use it’s not a big deal. But I can see where this is not ideal, so I thought it was important to point out. For many all of these things might, put together, be a dealbreaker.

It’s a good interface but what I hate about the Digigrid D is that outputs 1&2 are linked to the headphones output instead of having them as separate outputs like the digigrid iox

Couldn’t agree more. For me it’s not a big issue but I would absolutely prefer to have them as separate outputs.

Great units and been solid for us. POE works fine. You have definately flagged alot of the issues with this unit which is annoying but definately not a show stopper. Hopefully if they ever release a v2 of it, they get it better especially with the metering and also all the other things you mentioned :) fingers crossed.

Thanks for sharing your insights and I agree. Room for improvement but not a show stopper. And it is kind of old so a v2 would be appropriate.

PoE Needs switches that Provide the power…

In this case I only have the Netgear 108. I am looking to upgrade to the AV line but yeah, they are a bit pricy.

SOOOOO....I know Digigrid as an outboard EFX processor for DANTE or other various ethernet solutions. I have ZERO idea of what this box is, as you prefaced it with absolutely nothing. I can see that it is an audio interface, but is that all? What protocol? If it's just an interface, WHY? What makes this better than most? Nice to know that it gets warm...not a very inclusive or comprehensive review.

Yeah now that you point it out I can see that I should've give it a bit more context to what the box actually is. It's not Dante but Soundgrid. Basically just a audio interface for the Soundgrid network. Thanks for your feedback, I will take this into account in future videos.
