    Hi, I've bought this film emulation and I can't wait to try it out. But I wanted to ask couple of questions, when shooting slog 2 in a7iii, do we need to always overexpose by exactly +2 or is the range from +1 to +1.9 still ok? Also, when recording a person, how do you properly expose the face. Do you use an exact zebra value or any metering modes? Lastly, what are the ideal range for ISO in a7iii, if we are forced to change it in order to overexpose? Thank you.

    amazing once again. Do you know what colour space and gamma in the CST I should be using if shooting in L-Log with a Leica SL2? can't find the info anywhere. I tried using rec709 on both but looks veryyyyy flat

  • @meliorstudios

    @meliorstudios

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey Adrian! Leica is a funny one as like you say the input color space/gamma of L-Log isn’t present in the CST options. My advice is to download the Leica Conversion LUT from their website and place this node with the LUT before the CST. Then input Rec.709 for both your input gamma and input color space and you should be good to go

    Thanks! And if the different clips are shot from in the same scene and settings then we’ll just copy the node tree, group all the rest of the clips, and then paste the node tree onto all of them. If the clips in the timeline are shots from different scenes we’ll apply the PowerGrade to each one individually

    Which is better, this or CinePrint16

  • @meliorstudios

    @meliorstudios

    Жыл бұрын

    Cineprint16 is definitely more comprehensive and has a few more features you can play with to fine tune the overall 16mm look which makes it great. Though the node tree is quite busy and it doesn’t adjust reds very well despite using NS Matrix. Digifilm of course comes in 16mm and digital film so you get the best of both worlds and 2 powergrades essentially. The benefits with this powergrade is that the node tree is a lot cleaner and it’s configured so you have full control to get the best skin tones. And everything is already set up to make it as easy as possible

    Hey Naarek. cineprint16 is a great 16mm film emulation and there's a lot of control and accuracy over the tonality. The only problem we found with Cineprint16 is that if we want to make color adjustments of the skin and certain objects, the node tree gets really messy and it struggles with reds often too. With Digifilm it comes with two powergrades, a 16mm look and digital look that tried to imitate the modern netflix look we see on Tv nowadays. For the 16mm look it's not as refined as cineprint16 but it's a lot easier to use and focuses on color separation and good skin tones. They both have their pros and cons, but we've definitely used Digfilm a lot more over the last 6 months over cineprint16 simply because how quickly we've learnt to grade with it

  • @meliorstudios

    @meliorstudios

    Жыл бұрын

    AARON, If you already have Cineprint16 you probably won't benefit too much with Digifilm 16mm film, but Digifilm Digital film definitely creates a more creamy digital "netflix look", which is a different look to what you get from C16 or Dehancer But if it's a standard 16mm emulation you're looking for and already have C16 or Dehancer, you should be alright💪🏽
