Dr Palmer raised a good point that may explain the video I watched before watching this one and that is you are lean, you are super lean and I began wondering if you're not feeling well because you store very little if any fat and you may not getting enough fat in your diet. Thank you for asking about the percentage of people who could transition to a more normal yet very healthy diet once mitochondrial and cell function are restored. Dr Palmer is right, you are amazing, your husband is amazing as well but your amazing because you lived your life as a positive example all your life and now you stand to completely transform others life by showing them there is a better way.

13:23 "high levels of reactive oxygen" I want to know about this. So mitochondrial repair is observed to be elevated, when on Keto, ie when eating low carb and relying on fats. But what is causing the higher levels of reactive oxygen? (Or increase in mitochrondial repair?) And what does "reactive oxygen" mean? I heard vitamins like Vitamin C is good for immune system function because it picks up radicals, I believe like oxygen. I have critical questions to understand the root of this. As far as I can tell Candida diet it's nearly identical to Keto. All the things you drop in Keto are foods that contribute to the fungal systems living in our body. People have also reported years of remission after adhering to the low carb Candida Diet, just as this professor describes in some cases with Keto.

Reactive oxygen species = ROS These are a natural part of the biological/chemical reaction of metabolism that can lead to oxidative stress and free radical formation which may result in DNA damage. Antioxidants (like vitamin C) counteract the damaging effects of this process.

Fascinating. I am a big fan of telling people to eat more "fat". As in cheese and butter. To cut out alot of carbs only makes sense because something in the carbs seems to destroy our other brain-our guts. I also think its quite healthy to evalute how you feel with the medication very often, not just because you are on a diet. I think psychotic stages can be very heavy and can be mild. Doctors should think of a way to answer accordingly with the medication even though its tricky to scale down in this "special field". Its always an up and down unfortunately, the good and the negative syptoms will always be there.

I'm convinced that ketogenic diet is what people from the era of "hunters and gatherers" ate. That period of humanity before farming was invented was longest and what evolution has adapted our bodies most to. If you look carb foods then they are all ready in 1 season and that is autumn. The prehistoric hunters and gatherers would start storing fat instead of burning it for winter. That being said i have no intention of ever quitting ketogenic diet because it may actually be the 1 correct human diet. edit: Gave it more thought and it may be that certain people with certain genes have forefathers that hunted and gathered longer and therefore need a special diet. I does feel like i ate the wrong food my entire life. Maybe future gene tests will tell what you need to eat.

Modern hunters like the hadza eat the fattiest biggest game they can find. Unfortunately (for them) they are not allowed to kill large game like elephants, giraffes etc because of government restrictions, but the point is, they are fat hunters and their current diet is not what they would eat if they were permitted to eat as they please. When they did a survey their food preferences were 1) meat 2) honey 3) baobab fruit. But guess what, 2 and 3 are seasonal! When it's available they gorge on the free calories and put on weight, but most of the year they are not. Lots of interesting anthropology around keto/carnivore diets. The high depression levels experienced by most “partners, husbands, wives even adult sons and daughters … is a logical consequence of the empathy for the affliction of the loved one and the fact that there is no cure. More than decades of research is bringing more understanding but the condition of mental illness is rising and that fact alone is very depressing. Pharmacy is part of the problem, pollution is another and our government needs to be pressured into action.
