That's a good Machine for used. When the teeth wear out on the bucket, get yourself a set of Paddle Teeth, they work pisser...just a suggestion...Good job for a rookie...lol. Back in the day cellars where dug with a Cat 941 or 955 track loader. Excavator do a way more efficient job.

When I was a kid my dad would dig them with a wheel loader
I’m just getting started out on my own and trying to figure out how to competitively quote jobs such as a basement dig like this, I know everybody’s numbers are different but is there any type of formula you use to quote a basement job like this?
@DirtBrute
Жыл бұрын
You have to figure out how long it will take you . Then what it will cost you and then what do you want to make . if your wrong on your first time you eat the cost of your mistake and lean from it so you don’t do it on the second time . That’s pretty much it
So what do the different colors on the stakes represent?

On this job the pink was the house and the blue was the garage.

Thanks, how big a basement can you dig in one day?

It all depends on the situation. This one was pretty wide open, and there was no rocks . Also plenty of place to stockpile fill so we didn’t have to do any trucking and it took a couple days.
Was always curious as to how houses were dug out and the process in general 👍 having a laser on the bucket or the stick would definitely be sweet but obviously understand gotta keep your son working. At the same time…. Easier said than done I know…. But the sooner you can get out of the seat and off the jobsite and focus on working on your business instead of in your business….. the more time and potential profits you will make as you can quote more work and take a second to catch up w paperwork and everything else…. Again… easier said than done… not sure if it’s a goal or not if yours but….

Yeah my goal is to stay small and play with my machines and my son wants to take over quoting jobs and running the business. But he has to put his time in the trenches to know what he’s selling ! Thanks for watching !

No silt fence?
@DirtBrute
7 ай бұрын
Not required by this town . The inspector told me all he wanted was silt sock around the 2 catch basins in the street. Later after the backfill I did talk the builder into paying us to install one at the bottom of the hill along the street side . Witch he did not really want to pay for because the town said it wasn’t required .
Should have stockpiled a big pile of topsoil in the back yard

Why ? It would have been in the way and the owner paid us to truck it off
@Jake25755

@@DirtBrute what do you mean why? What are you suppose to finish grade with? The sand from the basement? That will grow grass well
@DirtBrute
Жыл бұрын
@@Jake25755 how about screened topsoil .Not that junk . first of all it takes too long to break down this guy wants his house done ASAP. Second of all by the time we pick all the shit out of it and it breaks down there’s not enough anyways . Been there done that. Plus it would be in the way . I meant why when it would be in the way and he’s paying us to remove it ?
If you would have had the surveyors give you 10' offsets you wouldn't be moving stakes

Nope I’d be i’d be burying them. It’s better to do your own offsets .

I’d hate to have you as an employee. Based off of the actual physical work, my guy had to do in this video if you can’t handle that you must be extremely lazy and I would never hire anyone like you.
Watching two numbskulls work and have an operating excavation business really gives me confidence about branching out on my own. Thanks guys.

Like there’s some industry standard of offsetting something from its original position? What the hell are you talking about, you can offset them anyway you want that works. Concrete forms company told us we were dead on with everything, so thanks for stopping by.
