Dig Deeper Episode 67 - The Flag Ditch Part 1: A Lost Town?

Jamestown Rediscovery's Natalie Reid (Archaeologist) and David Givens (Directory of Archaeology) explain an exciting new find at Historic Jamestowne. In this video you will learn about the discovery of a feature present on a map Captain John Smith sent to England in June of 1608 and how it may be the key to finding where many of the colonists lived and died during the 1609-1610 Starving Time.

This is so fascinating. some digs, you find clues that may lead you to look in another nearby area that may open up a whole new outlook of the area itself. Like the "flag area." Well done!!

I have an unrelated question. First, do you take volunteers? Second, when the fort walls were recreated in think in about 2004 or so, did you choose to put the recreated fort walls exactly inside the same holes or did you move the wall a few feet away from the original fort line so as not to disturb the original post holes?
