@@IllBushido That's not exactly true. All three ships had more safety features on them than any other vessels on the ocean at the time barring maybe Warships. With Titanic, the Iceberg collision overwhelmed the safety features installed. As far Britannic, it struck a mine, which are designed to sink Battleships. You can't exactly blame a Hospital ship that was supposed to be immune to attack sinking like that. Not to mention the Captain was a little bit of a fool to try and move the ship.

Was not expecting the name drop for the Windsor Castle and Arundel Castle, and I didn't know they had the same kind of gantry davits as Britannic. Thanks for the info!

Even today, many different aeroplanes, ships, even automobiles, small details matter. I think this is done for ease of finding parts, serviceability, and marketing purposes. We may go to purchase an automobile. We find the model we want. It has the engine we want, the transmission we want, and the colour want. But maybe one is a submodel SE and the one we want is a submodel LX We may want the LX because it has a leather interior with heated seats, better stereo, and power seats. But other than that, the SE model and the LX model may be just the same. It really does make a difference.

I love the little “Britannic Week” going on for the anniversary. It’s a great way to learn her history while also remembering her and her passengers and crew.

What a beautiful ship it would have been serving as a passenger liner! Yet seeing her as a hospital ship, well, personally I think she was the most beautiful of the 3 ships. =)

Got my Titanic model from the TitanicHG store a few weeks ago, and I LOVE IT!! I badly want to get more models in the future, even though it took more than half a year for the first one to arrive. Keep doing what you do y'all!

Remember the RMS Empress of Ireland tragedy in 1914

This is such a great visual and informative video guys. One little detail that is a bit wrong I would like to point out: Britannic's width could not have been changed because of Titanic's sinking, that was an alteration made by Thomas Andrews, and Britannic's keel and double bottom were already done/almost done when Titanic sank, as she was laid down in November 1911. The extra width has something to do with stability, which was satisfatory on Olympic and could've been improved on Britannic. This, of course it's just a very small mistake, it does not ruin anything but it is cool to take note.

Great and informative video as always, looking forward to the next one!

Andrew James No, the rooms were the same size, the were instead moved back. There were additional bars added between the smoking lounge and the palm courts. It's also worth noting that the forward second class stairs were moved back 6 feet.

No, there was a double hull on the HMHS Britannic and also the bulkheads were raised.

The issue whether the Titanic would have survived the collision with the iceberg if she had hit head on is purely speculative. If she or any of the other big ships of that size struck a berg at that inertia there's no telling what the ripple effect would have been on the plates and rivets. So it's purely speculative.

yes, it can be confusing. The Olympic class had double-bottoms. That's not an odd feature, most passenger ships had double bottoms as an element safety against collision and foundering. Olympic and Britannic had double bottoms extended after the disaster but not double hulls . Lusitania and Mauretania had double skins in comparison to Olymic class inch thick steel plating.

The most sad thing is Olympic and Britannic are shadowed by Titanic lovers :(

Britannic painted as a hospital ship always brings to mind the Aquitania which was painted similar. In fact with all of the faux sinking videos, in reality - the Aquitania could have easily hit that mine and Ballard, Cameron, John Chatterton and even the late Jacques Cousteau would have been diving to the Aquitania. It would have been nice to see Britannic & Aquitania as rivals on the Atlantic. The Aquitania has been called a White Star Cunarder, but I'd also add the acolade that Britannic was a Cunard White Starrer because of their dimensions and roles as hospital ships. Any truth the Britannic made a secret voyage to Canada(hence the North American continent)m sometime in 1916?

I always wondered about the enclosed aft well deck. Didn't know the gantry davits were meant for peacetime service as well. Good show. She was beautiful just as much as a hospital ship.

It feature - - BOTH the RMS and HMHS interior configuration - Explorable interiors is comparable to Demo 3 - Witness the sinking Just what I could remember off the top of my head. I for one am glad to see BRITANNIC finally getting some love and attention!

Some of Olympic’s timber is preserved too, one I know is a pub or hotel in England.

I always wanted to know about Britannic's fixtures and fittings that were removed before conversion to a hospital ship. I think that there wasn't a great time lag after launching, so only so much could have been completed.

When the Titanic Game will be Release can we look on those 3 Classic Ships? Because they are beautiful. I know a Britannic Demo will be release on Steam someday but what is with the Olympic? The reliable?

Good condition due to the warm water. You missed the safety features like direct connection between the marconi room and the bridge motorised lifeboats complete with a radio set.

Britannic was always my favorite ship out of the three Olympic class ships it being a hospital ship and just the way it looked with a white background, green stripe and red crosses,buff smoke stacks and all the extra life boats. It always caught my eye all this and especially because it was the outlier the one Olympic class ship nobody seemed to talk about or know everyone has heard about Titanic and most have heard about Olympic but very few know about that 3rd ship Britannic. Was hands down the one I was most fascinated by.

I wish i got that Britannic (RMS) model. Hope its still available

Turns out that davit that you see right in the closed position there at 3:05 malfunctioned and stopped working properly during the sinking after it was most likely jammed.

Thomas Swenson aside from a few small details (like the propellors), these models are printed in one single piece. But yes, you can order them unpainted and paint them yourself! You get to have the fun painting it, save some money, and you’ll get it in the mail quicker than if we painted it!

Titanic: Honor and Glory, Since you made this Britannic Video I have a question, do you imagine in the future making a video of the Olympic with the Layout and only external with the Painting and the Structure in the First War?

@Tamela Casey, there were no passengers aboard the Britannic on her last voyage, there were nurses doctors etc because she was on her way to pick up wounded soldiers, all she had was crew.

Even if her career was cut short due to circumstances beyond her control (WWI), I think Britannic had the most noble end to her career. Rather than simply be scrapped like Olympic, when Britanic met her end, she was faithfully serving her country and acting as a shelter to protect life. And her sacrifice was not in vain. Her mission was accomplished and her country's victory was attained. She paid the ultimate price like a great many soldiers did in that war, but even in death she continues to serve life to this very day. Today Britanic acts as a shelter for the life that lives beneath the waves. She offers shelter for many fish and other sealife so that they may grow big and one day give life to us. Britannic did her duty. And now she has the right to rest easy beneath the waves.

The Reason why britannic is my 2nd favorite ship was because of the Deckhouse between the Cargo hatches and electric gantries

If any of the old liners should be brought back as functional sailing replicas with *nearly 0 compromises the Britannic would be the perfect one .... She was the newest of the Olympic class she resemblances the Titanic being her sister ship so lots of people would be familiar with her design and interior overall configuration and with those davits and more than enough lifeboats that would be a walk in the park for a potential RMS Britannic ... But the navigational equipment would have to be modernized but still including the original as static display including the wireless cables running thru her masts .... I really hope the propulsion remains the same included of engines and boilers (which would make her incredibly expensive to run) but one of the biggest things is WOOD ! Most replicas would have fake replacements for it .... I hope that some kind of fireproofing can be done to the real one ! ....... If any of this should even happen an RMS Britannic has a great shot !

Xavier Lauzac yes but since the Britannic never got a commercial carrier this would be the first time we would have an RMS Britannic .... the newest ship of the WSL was named MV britannic so it wasn’t even a steamship but still elegant nevertheless
