Difference between Short Column & Long Column

According to the Indian standard when the ratio of effective length to the least column dimension is greater than 12, then this type of column called as the long column
when the ratio of effective length to the least column dimension is less than 12, then this type of column called as the short column For more details please watch full video with example.

In strength of material, slenderness ratio: Below 32 = short column 32 to 120 = medium column Above 120 = Long column. What's the difference between this classification and yours???

These values are for Steel columns..the values told in the video are for RCC Column.
what if it is I Beam? 200x150? then least lateral dimension will 150mm,,, Right??

Yeh ratio kiss Chiz Ka hai..yeh slenderness ratio h ya koi aur ratio h.. Bcz slenderness ratio is( length of column/Radius of gyration)

Ye ratio Column m use krte hai...length of column /radius of gyration ko hi modify kya gya hai ...yha pr radius of gyration ki place pr √I min /A put kya gya hai
