~~길, ~~로 they mean same but 로 is Chinese character as you know. We(Koreans) usually name ~~로 for bigger street while ~~길 for smaller street. Even though their meanings are same. Historically Korean people tend to regard Chinese character word as more official (in this case main??). I think that's why

외국인에게 말 할수록 한국어를 제대로 구사해 주세요. 한글을 배우는 건 쉽고 한국어를 배우는 게 어렵죠? 한글이라는 문자와 한국어라는 언어를 먼저 구별해야죠. 한자가 우리 조상 동이족'에'.... 창피하게 이런 초보적인 실수를 원어민에게 하면 어떻게 합니까? 동이족'의' 라고 해야죠. 띄어쓰기, 맞춤법이라도 제대로 하면서 한자가 동이족의 문자라고 주장을 하던지....ㅠㅠ 도대체 학교에서 뭘 배우는지 모르겠네요.
