Diesel MiniBike that rolls coal ! ! !

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

All videos shot in 4K ULTRA HD.
In this video we resurrect my brother Chance's minibike that he has had for several years. It is an OG BAJA MB200 MiniBike. We decided to go with an engine we have been curious about for years. A small single cylinder Diesel engine. After paying a little over $100 for this Chinese engineering masterpiece I wasn't expecting much. The box came beaten up and the engine was locked up.
It turned out that the engine must have been dropped at some point because there was a huge dent on the bottom half of the pull starter housing causing it to lock up. After a few minutes beating metal back into its place we were able to spin the engine over freely. The next step is very important, we drained out the "china" oil and replaced it with proper Shell Rotella diesel engine oil.
After filling the tank with fresh diesel it took a total of 3 pulls to start the engine. After this it has been starting on the first pull. I assume this is because the fuel pump was bled dry for shipping. I checked the exhaust when it was in the box and there I found soot proving that my engine was tested at the factory which is always pleasing.
When looking the throttle linkage over my brother noticed that this engine has a fuel screw which determines the fuel output thus increasing the overall HP number. When ordering this engine I purchased a 3.5HP, but to my surprise I received a 4hp, so I have a free upgrade of having my fuel screw partially turned up. Shortly after break-in chance went ahead and maxed out the screw giving her all the beans.
With this swap onto the minibike the only real problem we have ran into is the torque converter. We have a few parts on the way that will be in future videos that should engage at a lower rpm allowing us to use all the torque that this mini diesel is capable of providing.
I am unable to find this exact engine on the web at the moment but I have found one similar. When I ordered my engine I purchased a 196cc 3.5hp engine but the engine I received was a different color and had a 4hp sticker on it. It was the same 196cc bore size. I will post a link below to a website that sells similar engines.

Can you do a swap of a genuine Yanmar? The Genuine Yanmars are way better if you get a good one, & if you don’t abuse it. Even then they’ll take a beating. Just did a swap on my Sears & had ran it on engine oil for the past few weeks/months on it, & it hardly used any fuel at all, & well the filters kept clogging so I put clean diesel in it now. It uses more straight diesel than my engine oil mix that’s oil w a tad of gas to make it less thick. Starting these are a pain, but a little shot of ether helps a lot, there’s no glow plug, so if you’re smart it won’t damage anything.

To down size from metric to SAE, you can turn the engine on, and use low grit sand paper on the shaft, using caliper until it's proper thickness. But be careful not to go too far.
