You'd be surprised! I have twin black and white short hair cats that WON'T take food off my plate (or enter my bedroom without permission) unless I offer it to them! Never had to discipline them. Teach a cat boundaries when they're young. Pound for pound, they're more intelligent than dogs!

This is a really good example of pack mentality! Yuki is the alpha, so she shows her teeth telling the others that she gets the first pick of the meal. Once She's had a bite, Monty goes in for a portion (a big one at that, lol). And then Saga, the most submissive, gets the scraps. It's pretty fascinating to watch when you put it together.

Yeah but the thing is that according to that logic you as the owners have to be the leader then the dogs. If Yuki hadnt thought about food as hers maybe this wouldnt have happen. There was like a decision where you can see her saying Didnt you want that, well I guess you didnt wanted anymore, I guess it is mine now to the owner that is where you should have stepped in. Doing so when he woke up though is to late leaving yuki at: if you wanted it soo badly you should have Said so when I obviously( obviously to her) asked you/ waited for you. That being Said huskys or any dog can be a real pain to to train.

That was really funny and adorable.

Fifteen years ago, I made a ham and coleslaw sandwich and took it to my room where and my husky Balto and I slept. The call of nature was upon me so I used the en-suit bathroom. Upon entering the bedroom I discovered that Balto gently picked the top layer of bread and all the coleslaw and gently placed it on the bed and are all the ham, yum, 😋. 😁

One time around Christmas we'd been snacking and everyone fell asleep in the living room. When we woke up we all accused the other people of not leaving food for others. Then we looked at Mickey our dog and you could see the guilt on his face. I love dogs. They are authentic.

Ahhhh well, yet another example of Husky intelligence and pack behavior. Yuki was exhibiting alpha behavior guarding the food because she had first dibs on it whether her master would dole it out to the pack or fall asleep so she could steal it. Pack hierarchy. Once the master falls asleep, as long as she gets to eat first, she doesn't stop the others from joining in. Pack rules...

@@NorthYukiHusky I KNOW Huskies - I owned three, two at a time, all females. One of them was quite the alpha. IMO they're more pack oriented than other breeds. All dogs descended from wolves but Huskies have retained up to 27% DNA of the extinct Taimyr wolf; i.e. their appearance and pack behavior. A Husky breeder once told me "two? no big deal. Three or more and their pack behavior goes off the chart".

This is natural for a dog. Yuki is the alpha female in the pack and shows others from the pack that the food is hers. 🙂
