Studio time, paying producers and writers, paying to clear samples, big video budgets, travel to other cities to promote/tour, wardrobe etc Diddy has to pay for all of this stuff before one record was sold he’s an investor he makes artists bigger than they would ever be without him not to mention everybody signs a contract so whatever amount Mase did receive that’s what he agreed to. I can confirm that my clients attorney was reviewing a deal for one of her other clients back in 2014 who was going to sign to diddy as a writer/ artist with an ep deal. She told me it was by far the worst contract she had ever seen and told the artist they'd be signing their entire career away for a low 6 figure advance and the deal didn't even really guarantee any success being released or any payments. She countered and they weren't even willing to change much. She said she had never recveived a contract that blatantly exploitative in her 17 years as a ent attorney.

Diddy sees the dollar signs around that talent and makes them sign contracts that gives THEM much more money than Foot Locker but way LESS than what their talent is worth. Honestly artists need to know to get their own attorneys (Separate from label or manager) and sit with the attorney and have the details of the deal explained to them. Most of badboys artists received high 6 figure or 7 figure advances not knowing anything about the contracts they were signing. It's foul but nobody forced them to sign. Where diddy became shrude is when he never got these artists out their deal all these years later. That is just greed.

There’s a difference between stealing and someone signing a bad contract. Look at TLC. Look at most artist that complain about money, didn’t read their contract. Can’t sign it away and then say it was stolen. GET A LAWYER AND READ THE CONTRACT.

Mase wants his publishings and masters back. This will financially do Mase good. Diddy be talking he is for the artists (black empowerment) and want them to financially succeed but why not do right by Mase! Mase and Biggie are the most valuable bad boys artists. Every other artists got theirs and that will make Diddy n his higher ups look like they did their just due publicly. Biggie and Mase…..think about how big they were on bad boy records. They signed the contracts . They blew the advance money. They thought the videos, rentals , hotels, studio time etc….where all free. Albums sales come , nothing left. Puffy is shady, but that’s the music industry for u.
