Now I'd like to layer this with something more solid underneath but what would you recommend?

I just can't make myself by anything from certain brands anymore, like they just feel "over" to me. Tarte, Too Faced, Urban Decay, Mac, Benefit, ...there's just far better high end brands if you like high-end cosmetics and also far too many indie makeup brands (varying in price) that are f'ing amazing for me to even bother giving my money to aforementioned brands.

Those brandy you mentioned have bedn around for years there's a reason why. But indie brands are more exciting and usually bring in a younger consumer crowd
