It's always so much fun to listen to Jessi . She is such a fun person to be around. Hat's off to the producer who decided to go with real footage instead of editing it. KSTAREXTDOOR3 was my fav till now !! it gave fans so many amazing moments to laugh and get to know our idols . Thanks Jonathan for making all your guests comfortable and making them laugh. Jonathan is different from other foreigners. He's black, but he's culturally Korean. So, his mentality and the vibe he gives off, is very Korean. He said on another show that he has a difficult time relating with other foreigners. So, I think Koreans have an easier time connecting with him over other foreigners.

@@user-gp1bt4vm3r So true...He doesn't vibe like a Kongo guy at all. That's cute to watch and quite unique. And when Jessi started to say, you're African American and he said, nope just African. In Kongo, we're biso na biso( between us), there are challenges but not the same than in the US. So, his experience is different. As you said he's able to navigate Korean society well since he was raised there... He looks like a Kongo guy, but he has a Korean vibe, and that's quite obvious.

Jessi truly is a one of a kind idol. She basically took over this whole episode and Jonathan went along for the ride, it was great. Also Jessi lecturing him on how to sing her song properly was absolutely hilarious. I can’t believe Jonathan is only 23 years old, I’m so sad that there’s only 1 episode left this season but I hope he gets to continue hosting shows cause he is so good at making people laugh 😂

He corrected her and said African because he's literally African.. it would be like going up to a random Taiwanese person in a random country and being like so you're Taiwanese-American right? Why tack on '-American' to someone who isn't from the US and doesn't even speak English.. they're not American. To be racially Black does not equate to being "African-American", a black (African) person from America. She said African-American because she assumed he was from the US/English-speaking which shows when she said she was shocked he didn't speak English. Even though he already said he doesn't.. which means he's African.. not African-American..

If someone told people I was African I would correct them by saying I'm African-American. That doesn't mean I'm proud to be American. It just means I'm not from Africa. This means that present day ancestors of African slaves who were brought to America ("African-Americans") cannot culturally be defined as African because we are removed from the cultures and lifestyles that make up Africa. Most African-Americans do not know which part of Africa they were taken from. It's been such a long time that we now have our own culture as black Americans. Also, African-American is a technical term. It's used in technical settings where you have to be classified/defined like at a doctor's office. Normally we describe ourselves as "black" or "black American" because at this point we are removed from Africans culturally. This makes context important. Being described as African-American implies you are linked ancestrally to African slaves brought to America. Meaning in the present day you currently live, were raised in, or immigrated from The United States, speak English or you are culturally American. Being described as African implies you are from Africa, currently live, were raised in, or immigrated from a part of Africa, you speak an African language/dialect or you are culturally African. Jonathan is an African person born in Congo and he is culturally Korean because he grew up in Korea. He said this in the video. He's not American. This is why Jessi was wrong. When she said he was African-American it implied that Jonathan is from America and he speaks English. When he said "I'm African" he clarified that he doesn't speak English and he was born in a part of Africa (Congo, Central Africa). She probably didn't think it mattered to say African-American but to be honest it was rude. She ignored his heritage and kept saying she thought he spoke English or he should learn it. You conflated him correcting her with African pride but that wasn't the case and contextually she got a lot of things wrong.
