What criteria do you assume that makes Hall's 500kg legit versus Thor's 501kg? Because Thor did his in his "home" gym out of competition due to a worldwide pandemic he had no control over? You'll say his dad weighed them. So did Guinness. Independently. Judged by a legit ref in Magnus who is at every major strongman competition like WSM, Arnolds, and GL. A guy who is NOT particularly fond of Thor and ruled his double dips at 2017 that started this mellow-drama. Sanctioned by WUS. Whine all you like, the same controls were in place that made it official as too Eddie's. Even Eddie doesn't dispute he lifted 501, he just clings to the caveat of competition to cling to his record because he hated Thor for 2017. It's a lame argument because it wasn't in competition. Could just as easily call to question why that matters with Hall's 500. His own separate bar on a separate stage. And, unlike competition lifts, he had NO time limit for prep and lift. So was that 500 really "in competition" just because it happened at one? End of day, Hall lifted 500 and Thor lifted 501. No has before or since. Appreciate it.

He is a really exceptional strongman, but he is just so unlikeable (to me). Ever since his yes men group and the bitching about the lost viking press and therefore WSM. This 1 kg jump was not sportsmanship. Smart, but lack of entertainment and true passion for the sport. He's a caculated guy. Eddie would of tried the 520 if his 500 was as easy as Thor's. For the viewers, the fans. And yes, Eddie has also been a giant duck. But he had quite the point. His win got smeared on by lack of sportsmanship. No we did not. When Eddie pulled 500, the record was 465 so he beat it by 7.5%. Therefore we should only be truly impressed when someone pulls 538+ kg. 501 and 505 kg is still a rounding error and not sufficient to overshadow Eddie’s lift. Would be an amazing lift for sure, but not a smashing new world record in my opinion.

And I wonder how much a human being can lift without any help from chemicals?because for me that would be the true record, well it would depend on body weight and height, of course, the more body weight, the more muscle mass, therefore, the more weight you would lift, the rest is because of the help. from chemistry without chemistry bye to those records....😉

Imagine going through all that training and forgetting to latch your belt before 505kg attempt. Ivan had the best chance and made a huge mistake

Thor will do 505kg in a couple month. Judging by how easy he made 501kg look, i think it's almost a given. Let's make it official this time, within a competition.

I always wondered how they lift back to back . If they did more heavier lift from the start wouldn t that be better. I have no idea how it works though

I do not doubt that Hafthor lifted 501KG, but Eddie will always be remembered as the strongman that broke the half tonne first AND did it in competition. Eddie is the official WRH. Hafthor has a PB which is counted as the unofficial wr imo. These other guys are nowhere near to breaking the half tonne. Eddie "THE BEAST" Hall will go down in strongman history for what he achieved, the first to do what was thought impossible.

Eddy almost died lifting half ton but Thor made it look very easy besides that Thor has to lift it higher than Eddy due to height difference between two lads.
