Did We Find The BEST RV Tow Vehicle?! - Tour of Our Little SUZUKI SAMURAI!
We've been on the hunt to find the BEST flat tow vehicle to pull behind the RV... and I think we've found it! 🚗 This little Suzuki Samurai is one of the lightest tow vehicles out there, and because it’s a manual, we can tow it behind the RV without needing any special equipment. It may not be the most advanced or beefy machine, but after a few upgrades, we’ll have our perfect vehicle to take along on all our RV adventures!

Keeping with the theme of Clementine, you could go with Fuji or Kanzi which are both apple varieties that are red and give a nod to the car's Japanese roots. Otherwise, Rosie, Garnet, Scarlet, and Ruby are all kind of vintage-sounding names that flow well with Clementine.

Or even Blossom!! Which fits the Japanese theme (thinking Japanese cherry blossom) but then also the powderpuff girl named Blossom had a red bow right? (So it fits the color theme)

Had a Samurai to tow behind our motorhome when we first got it. Very lightweight and easy to tow. Find an owners manual for it and follow the instructions for flat towing. If I'm not mistaken, they recommend periodically starting and circulating trans and transfer case fluid, after a specific amount of miles.
@paulcondie2520

100 percent correct tow in T/C in neutral trans in second supposed to run engine awhile through the gears every 50. miles or so. And that is for manual Transmisions.
Satsuma! You can call her Suzy! Love an alliterative car name, plus it will be a nice fit with Clementine! 🍊

Had an 88' Suzuki Samurai rag top with oversize tires. That little 4 wheeler was a champ, probably still out there running and making someone happy, wish I still had it!
MUSHU!!! It’s perfect because it’s the little red dragon off Mulan! He’s spunky and fun like y’all & that sweet ride!!!
What an awesome adventure you have planned ahead of you 😍Love the new family member, a perfect addition! How about Ruby, as a name? Ruby & Clementine's endless adventures on the road 🌎😉 Much love & blessing to y'all.

Back in the day I sometimes rented a Suzuki Samurai when I was on holiday if I want to do a bit soft off roading. I’d call her Rhubarb.
My husband and I purchased one of the first ones that came out in the 80s. He made a few modifications to prevent the easy rollovers. We also towed ours behind a motorhome that was about the same size as Clementine. It towed wonderfully and you should not have any problems. Have fun!

This is amazing to hear! We're so excited to get the little gal back and start cruising around with her!
I like the suggested Pomegranate. Since she’s Japanese, you could give her the Japanese name for a red fruit. The Japanese name for strawberry is Ichigo (pronounced itch-e-go.) After all, you do have the Itch to go! 😂 I also looked up tomato varieties. There’s Brandywine (which sounds like something you both like 😂) or Tomkin (if she’s a he).

Hello 👋 dear, how are you doing?
Might look into getting a clear wrap put on the body AND windshield. Just to keep the new vehicle in such good shape. Flat tow vehicles have such a large risk of rocks getting kicked up from the camper and chipping the paint and cracking the windshield. Just a suggestion to look into. Love you guys!

Mudflaps with good coverage across the entire back with help reduce travel damage as well. I'm sure you've seen them on other motorhomes.
Call her Fuji, as in Fuji apple. Keeps the fruit theme going and acknowledges the Japanese Samurai connection. 😀 Clementine and Fuji has a certain ring
I drove a Samurai for 13 years and loved it every day!!!!
As a Suzuki Samurai owner, I can appreciate the one that you bought. Plus, did you notice the wheels that are on it, they are extra wide. That means that the roll over possibilities are almost completely eliminated. Not that they were even noticable. Great job.
I think a great name for Suzuki would be…Darlin’ “Oh My Darlin’ Clementine”.

I bought a 87 new, in 87. Still have it. It's been great. It is still in new condition. Garaged it's whole life. 136,000 miles young.
I grew up in Ft. Walton area (Niceville) and my husband and I always find the best deals on used goods in the area. People in the area have money and garages. There are lots of retirees and military families so stuff is well cared for and maintained. I hope you made the most of your visit to the area. Wishing you happy and safe travels.
In Australia it was called the Suzuki Sierra. We bought one for our son’s first vehicle back 1992. I see yours has an Aussie ARB bullbar and Old Man Emu suspension (also by ARB), the same company that made your fridge freezer in Clementine. What a great buy! Well done. Cheers from Western Australia.

WOW !!! You guys 😍 The mother of my daughters and I had a black Suzuki Samurai 1987 soft-top back in the early 90’s, when I moved to Montréal 🇨🇦 It was so fun to drive, I once did a 360 one cold winter and slippery day on the highway, no tilting or rollover feeling at all, I for sure turned on the 4 wheel drive after that. But you do feel it in the steering, when you got side wind, because it’s so light and square. And you for sure made a good choice buying a hard top, because O'boy it was cold during the winter with our soft top Samurai, up in the the cold winter Canada 🥶 I’ve been following you for over 2 years now, you are so funny, cute and makes fantastic vloggs 😍🎥 Thank you for being so real. I have of course seen every single video you have on the channel, what adventures you have had and are still having. I can’t to see the next episode ❤️ Greetings with love from my home at the Canary Island of Tenerife 🏝 🇪🇸

Because it’s a samurai you just got to call it RONIN!👍😊 Top job guys, I’m hooked again!!😋
great to have you back! been missing your videos!
I had a 1986 Samurai with a similar lift and hard top. I towed it behind a motorhome as well. I don't remember if Clementine has a backup camera, but you will need one because the Samurai is so narrow you won't be able to see it with your side mirrors. Two more tidbits. 1) when towing it put the transfer case in neutral, the transmission in 2nd gear (I know seems wrong) and put the key in the on position to unlock the steering. You will also want to disconnect the battery or have a battery disconnect switch. Stop every 500 miles and start the engine and cycle through the gears a few times. 2) It's so light that I would often tow it behind my V6 2007 Toyota 4Runner even without a brake controller - I know not recommended but my point is when you pick it up in Florida you could easily tow it behind your Durango though I would definitely recommend a brake controller for that distance and safety. p.s. you were smart to avoid carbureted Samurai's because the choke works off a wax diaphragm that has to heat and melt to work and they can be very temperamental. Grats on your new toy, you will love it!
I can just always hear Allison say we just bought a car from 2015, 2016, 2017. Etc lol
"We bought a car"...finally the triumphant shout is for real!
Thanks for bringing us along!
One of the most under-rated off road vehicles in existence is the Suzuki Vitara. (I'm not sure they were available in the USA). Extremely capable, even more so than the Sammy, and was built with a flat tow mode, even in the automatic. But the Samurai (sold in Australia as the Sierra) are a cool little rig!
Love the Samurai!! Name it Bing -- for a cherry to keep it in the fruit family or Caboose since it will be following Clementine.
Huckleberry Hound would always sing "Oh my darlin', oh my darlin', oh my darlin' Clementine."
I had an '87 Samurai for a number of years in the 90s. Had a great time with it and while I didn't do much off-roading with it, I could go places that Jeeps couldn't. It's really hard to get a properly setup Sammy truly stuck. You will notice the wind blowing you around a bit, but after the engine swap is done, you won't have to work to hold a speed more than about 68-70 mph. A headwind will reduce your speed considerably... I would have enjoyed my Sammy for a few years more had I been able to do that engine swap. Oh, and I rarely needed AC as the windows down and rag top off was just awesome! Have a great time with your ride, you'll love it!
Hello! I think Yuzu is a good name. It's a Japanese fruit. ( the car is a Suzuki Samurai) . So Clementine and little Yuzu !! Greets from the Netherlands.
I was in high school when the Samurai came out. They were all over the place. One always seemed to be upside down in a ditch on this specific freeway off ramp. Keep in mind most of these were driven by high school student at the time. We always obeyed the posted speed limit.... not. Double the posted speed on a turn makes it a flip over risk... Sounds like an ID Ten T error to me ;-)

I dont remember knowing anyone that flipped one. But, they were all over the place during high school in the 80s, and with that stupid commercial, everyone kept going....beep, beep, HI! 🙄🙄
I had a 1986 Samurai after I graduated high school. I took that thing across country from Florida to New Mexico and back. It was a fun vehicle.
Love it! This is going to be a cool rv/tow vehicle combo
I like the idea of "The Pip" (definition: "the small hard seeds in a fruit such as an apple or orange"), so you'd have Clementine and The Pip. :) Btw, this is exactly the car my husband and I rented on our honeymoon in Aruba. Same color and everything!

Hey y'all👋☺ Loving the cute little Suzuki!😍 How about her being a lil sister for Clementine🍊 Her name might be Suzie! Or Cruzie! Just a couple of ideas to throw in the hat!🤷♀️
My sister in law had a RV and they kept their big packs of water in the tow vehicle. She would always say “going to the well” whenever they needed water. We towed a Chevy Malibu behind our RV. Good luck and God bless.
Name the little Samurai Rhubarb! The adventures of Clemetine and Rhubarb will go down in the annals of youtube travel vlogger history!
The name Suzuki is formed from two words Suzu (鈴) meaning bell and Ki (木) meaning wood/tree. So with a little leap of logic, you could name her Belle.

What energy you guys put out: Wow! Okay, name…that’s easy: Little Red Samurai? Drive safe and Happy RVing!
That is fun to roll with a samurai! Great content guys keep it up and please more sammy!
Looks like you found yourself a nice one. I personally would kept the 1.3l. I'm in the UK. It's a lifeboat and general run around when you are at a destination. Unless you have to use it in an emergency you won't be bombing down the freeway so a few extra mph for cruising is neither here or there. You don't have to keep up with the traffic and out drag the trucks. Cost of the engine swap won't be cheap for the perceived advantages you are getting. VFM? Not really. Have fun.

If you can't get up to 65mph in the US you will get flattened by a truck, for real. I have a Chevy Tracker (same car, different name and a few years newer) and I only drive surface roads, never freeways because the only way to get this car up to 70 mph is to drop it from an airplane.
@danielzhang1916

most cars here in the US have at least 120 hp, and everyone drives 75-80 mph on the highways, a small engine is not going to be enough to drive on the highways here

My Samaria im getting im excited it can fit down trails and great on fuel . Im from Canada 🇨🇦 and they wana run you over if your not doing 120 . I'm a truck driver and have a 40 foot bus . I care less if someone's on my bum driving . I tap my breaks or pull to the side telling them to pass or back off ... if they don't I drive slower to make my point . It works . I get the one finger salute lots and I don't look over lots and enjoy my day ☺️
How about naming your Suzuki “Ronin”? 😎
I think “Skippy” for the name-has a nice 80’s/early 90’s vibe! 😍

Clementine and the wittle wed wocket. It’s so cute!
I read some comments and didn’t see this in those I read, but I hadn’t read them all so apologies if I missed it. What I ended up going to was the song “oh my darling clementine” and looking for ideas there. Some thoughts Ruby - referenced in song to her lips. Sister - who the singer ended up with after clementine passed. Miner - Forty-niner - clementine’s father who loved her lots. Then I also looked up companion plants for clementines. Apparently there are lots of great companion plants but the ones that closest matched the color that I loved were: marigolds, petunias, and nasturtium so I’d recommend using any of those too! Plus I can’t wait to see that tattoo Allison - minus pass out! 🤗🙏🤩 I ALSO loved seeing you guys do the “we bought a car!” And have it be for real! Warmed my heart! ❤️ Anybody know how many times you guys have joked about that over the years? Perhaps a montage of them all with the years and months they came out would be great when you do the “all the works done” video in a couple months?
It's so cute. I remember when those Samurai's came out. They were quite common. I liked the dashboard cover. I've purchased those dashboard covers for everyone of my new vehicles.
Awww love your tow car so cute 🥰 🙏🙏🙏all the work goes well . There are some fantastic names listed 😜 looking forward to hearing what you really like Have a wonderful time with Family ,looking forward to to the next part of your journey Take care. Safe travels 🥰
So cute! I had a tracker back in the day. I want a Samurai!
Good old Suzi! My gf's parents had one growing up and we use to get permission I drove it to the ski hill! Very reliable little vehicle.
I had a bright blue samurai- I promise you it should have rolled over several times and never did. I miss her so much. I’m glad you’ve got Ruby.
Great video ya'll!! That definitely is a beautiful samari we have a 92 tracker 4x4 1.6 8v engine automatic transmission got it from gentleman that towed it behind their rv. my son custom painted it green metal flake air brushing it's a blast to drive. Good luck with everything. Can't wait to see it finished. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun enjoy the open road

I think you should call your new Suzuki “Darling”. Love the channel! Excited for you both!!
I had a green one for a few years, it was fantastic, all I would say is do not get over enthusiastic with it, it will flip over if you try to corner too hard, I had several two wheel events before I learned my lesson. Enjoy it, it is a great car
Tiny and weird are basically my main criteria for a vehicle, so I’m loving this one! Excellent choice!
Hey, you touched my engine!! lol That was awesome to see my Suzuki in your video.
Wad playing Mario Kart when I got the notification for this and in the game I was using a red vehicle called the "Biddybuggy", so there's you an unusual name for the Samurai that's fun to say! 😁
Excellent choice on the Samurai!!
I had Sammy the Samurai for years, loved him, he had two changeable tops and was fun.
I had one of those back in 1987…loved it!
Amazing find! We had a 1986 Sami for about 6 years and I did a lot of work on it. I kept the 1,300 cc engine because it was in great condition and was fairly low miles for the age. I removed the carpeting and covered it in multiple coats of paint in bedliner after resealing all of the seams. We flat towed her for many trips behind our 2 motorhomes. While in Branson, Mo. it was an absolute blast to drive in all the hills, it was the perfect tow vehicle for us. Unfortunately we acguired a 2011 Chevrolet HHR with an automatic transmission that was capable to be flat towed so my Sami went to another owner. We named her BEEP due to the horn and her size. When we got her we paid $1,300.00 for her and sold her for $3,000.00, today one in similar condition would be around what you paid for yours, I enjoy your channel and the renovation of Clemintine, Keep them coming!
So happy for you guys!
You referred to it as “Bad Boy” more than a couple times. Bad Boy? Or someone below suggested Kumquat. Now that’s just freaking adorable.
That’s a good one, congrats 👍
This one made me smile. I bought a 1987 when I briefly lived in Winning, MB. Unfortunately my best friend had a motorcycle accident and became a quadriplegic so I needed something more accessible for him. I remember getting out of it after a long drive and my teeth would still be vibrating an hour later. Lol. Rough ride but I loved it. Congrats on a great find.
I had one of those dashboard liners for my 1980 Mercury Capri. Really does help keep those plastic parts from cracking and fading. Great looking ride you've got there!
Congrats that's awesome
It's a super cute choice! Well done, you two!🚙 -Ben and Ang

Old Red. Red Robin. Cherry... Could go on forever 😁 I drove a Suzuki Jimny. Great car.
My first car was a red '84 Suzuki Jimney!! Man, I loved that car. A kangaroo leapt off an embankment in front of me on the highway when I was going 100kms an hour and unfortunately Jim was no more.
Now I want one!!! You guys are the best!
