I had to ignore the politics and preachy shit in my punk rock because I disagreed with certain things bands I loved were preaching at me impacted me musically so I had to look at bands like Nofx, Choking Victim and A-F like they were just dudes playing a character like a heel in the WWF.

@brandongalloway9860 THIS IS STRICTLY MY PERSONAL WAY OF LOOKKNG AT IT, NOT EVEN A LITTLE BIT TELLING YOU HOW TO BEHAVE. I mean you can do that and still stop supporting bands when they do something horrible. You gotta stand on your morals and character and sacrifice entertainment for what's right. I've always thought the "separate the art from the artist" is nonsense. I don't want to support people I have huge differences in character and beliefs with. Especially when I believe what they do is inherently wrong. To each their own, though

@@thepunkrockreview that would be awesome. I grew up near the University of Notre Dame and that's 2 hours from Chicago in the 90's so I had the privilege to grow up going to shows at legendary venues like the Metro and Fireside Bowl since I was in high school. I got to see and play so many amazing shows with Chicago bands at house parties, all age venues, VFW's and Bars before going on to have an impact. I was at the Lawrence Arms show that they put out on DVD which was one of the best concerts I've ever been too

@thepunkrockreview I agree with that. He was my biggest influence outside of mainstream ones like Billy Corgan or Kurt Cobain. They had a big impact on my life, but i saw through the bull shit preachy liberal politics at the Warped Tour in 2004 haha That was the moment I learned how to separate the artist from the art and kept jamming. I enjoy Anti-Flag the same way I still enjoy professional wrestling. They are just Cartoon characters playing politics. Haha

@brandongalloway9860 oh, nah, I don't listen to them, cover their music, or even sell their records at my shop anymore. I don't support them any more than I'd support Skrewdriver and their first album. Dude sucks and it ruined his music. Can't support it bc it links you to it. Like if I saw someone jamming that band that I knew already knew what happened, that's a HUGE red flag. Nope. It's unfortunate, too, bc they have some great songs. But I'm not going to sacrifice my character for music. There's plenty out there for us to stay entertained indefinitely
