Excellent, thorough review, I tested out the Anacapa GTX 2 Mids today and really liked them. This is coming from the Sky Toa GTX boots that are no longer in production. The Anacapas were very stable underfoot and very comfortable. They look like winners for dayhiking and backpacking.

Wore these for a 4,000 foot mountain hike and loved them!

Came across this video while looking for a HOKA boot with the same H-frame stability platform as the Stinson 7. Awesome video’s keep up the good work!!!!! By the way does anyone know what new HOKA boot follows the H-frame? Thank you and God Bless!!!!!

There are no Hoka boots that use the H-Frame for added stability. The only Hoka hiking boot that is not neutral stability is the Tor and even then does not use the H-Frame. More generally though, you usually don't want that kind of stability built into a hiking boot or trail runner. You want a stable platform, yes, but the boot should be able to move to the contours of the trail, and your foot with it. Using a stability shoe to compensate for over-pronation can be a bit counterintuitive. Instead, you might benefit from using a shoe with a slightly more rigid sole package and definitely upgrade the insoles. Stock insoles do not support your arch well. Swapping out the stock insole for a pair from Sole or a hiking boot specific SuperFeet (standard SuperFeet green/blue/pink will cut Gore-Tex liners) might be just enough to keep your foot from collapsing inwards and prevent overpronation. I want them to make a boot with working in mind like hoka style and feel but also maybe a soft composit toe and or def water PROOF

i have 6 pairs of HOKA shoes... 9.5... can someone tell me if the hiking boot sizes the same or do i need to go up a half size??.. keep the toe off the front of the boot?/.. cheers..

The midsole is noticeably softer than the last generation. I like it.

Hmm… aesthetics are a very personal thing although I think the upper of gen 1 looks more premium. But midsole softness should be less subjective. My honest feeling, gen 2 definitely feels firmer than the last gen. Weird.
