Glad to see Steelseries improving the model and not taking anything away from it and at the same price point as the Arctis Pro I'll definitely be picking these up in the near future.

Idea when it comes to the non-flat top. Steelseries could simply just have an option in software to flip the display upside down so people can still mount it to the underside of their desk and it would still be usable.

E.g. the feedback delay on the input he didnt need to mention that or the shape of the device for mounting on his desk. I like!! Also if you see this Harris - i dont own a steelseries (hyperx cloud) and people complain about the headsets breaking above the earcup join. Durability is pretty key for me, is this one much better then the arctis pro?

That "spacial audio" thing is basically how so of the other types of headphone surround (Dolby Atmos Headphone, the PS5's 3D audio, etc) work. Check out something called HRTF (head related transfer function) to see why it works.

Got the headset and honestly love this thing, sound quality is great, and gets better with the software EQ settings. The mic could be better but again gets to a pretty good quality through EQ presets. The battery swapping is sick and the dual Bluetooth and 2.4ghz audio is sick. Highly recommend this if you can swing the price. Only issue is making the chat channel and game channel balances change off the deck. Works great when you change the levels in the GG software though so still works.

@@MrDogtown22 I think for a gaming head set they’re great, they give a great range out of the box, but when you incorporate the software they get even better. Obviously they’re not audiophile grade, but if that’s what you’re looking for you’re gonna be looking at the higher end brands and not a gaming headset. But with all the features they offer as well as the sleeker design I’ve really enjoyed them. I use them almost every day, from gaming on Xbox/ps5/pc to just listening to music while I work or when listening to KZread videos. They’re not cheap but It’s rare for me to find a product that I can get behind fully and steel series has consistently made these better with every iteration.

@@MrDogtown22 My personal experience using their 800, Arctis Pro and Nova Pro wireless headsets. Worst to Best, Arctis > 800 > Nova. I'd say microphones from all three have been similar. To me the out of box audio of the Arctis was 100% worse than the 800's and the Nova is 200% better than the 800's when you also factor in Sonar. The 800 and Arctis both having hinge issues really wasn't great (Arctis being worse) and left a bad taste in my mouth. Nova's Sonar software makes up for those shortfalls and the noise cancellation is pretty nice too.

Got these coming in the mail, thanks for one of the first reviews I've found and eager to know more about what you discover. My old school PS3 headset had leather cups and that overtime was a HELLA deal breaker for me with sweat and "wear and tear" so hopefully this is more premium material and I myself have an old school Steelseries Arctis 3 that has hella lasted me with mesh cups which I think are superior, but the cords are too damn short in the current set up I have, so hopefully this fixes that problem while also letting have other multi-uses for it kinda like a all-in-one stop and forget everthing else kinda headset. One thing that may not be a big deal to some but I would like to have an additional option to stick other headphones onto the existing one, dunno what that port is called, a "line out" maybe on the headset itself. My Arctis 3 has them near the usb cable into the headset and saw a slight hole on the nova pros but couldn't really get a good angle from the vid here, (maybe its on the game dac/deck?) Anyways thanks for the review and thanks to anyone who reads this and can answer back.

I've been using it for the past few months. Headset feels and looks good, sounds great, battery life is good (maybe even last longer than the arctis pro wireless - comparing new to new), hinge fault from previous arctis pro's has been addressed (they added a little rubber for more flexibility, only time will tell if the hinge still breaks). The noise cancellation seems good to me but I have never used noise cancellation on other headsets before. The ONE draw back I found so far - the ear pads need to be thicker as in the middle of the ear cup there is the noise cancellation emitter that protrudes outward and very easy rubs on your ear. I have read multiple complaints about this so be VERY aware and expect to buy some ear cups from "wicked cushions" or some other store once the baseline pads wear in and you start to feel the rubbing. Myself having the previous arctis pro's I 3D printer a plastic adapter and used the arctis pro ear pads I purchased from wicked cushions and was able to save a few dollars. I've had no issues with the rubbing since. The new sonar software is awesome, cant express that enough. The equalizer adjusts seems great to me - I am no audio-freak but out of the box I was happy with default. I did play around with the equalizer and it seemed to have a nice range of bass and treble. I've even done the firmware updates and it went very smoothly (took a little time but just have to be patient). I did a firmware update on the arctis pro's previously and basically wrecked the audio quality of the headset, take that as you will. What I like most, from the software you can easily set the headset as default device and then alternatively access your Realtek (for example) audio driver software and set your speakers back to default to just swap back and forth OR you can also use the sonar software and change the default output to your speaks from there. Lots of different ways to set it up which is awesome. Hope that helps :) Ps. I was going to give up on SteelSeries after the Arctis headset as the hinge broke on me. It was replaced under consumer laws(Australia) and they upgraded me to the Nova, which honestly surprised me. This headset & software to me seem leaps ahead of the old but if the hinge survives I have no idea. Hopefully there quality control has been upped. This is what the Arctis should have been, I'd be very happy with this headset (so far) even if it did not have the noise cancelation.

@@Adi-kr5nd No worries, one other thing I've noticed over time is the head strap seems to stretch slightly, I'm now on the final notch of the adjustments. Another weird thing which isn't really a problem but I find odd... When I tilt my head to the right 90 degrees, the right ear cup seems to have a loose item inside it which makes a little noise. Not really an issue as you never tilt your head like that really, just bizarre. Overall though, sound quality along with the sonar software functionality really sets this headset miles ahead. Whatever team made that software did an amazing job.

It's awesome you had a good experience so far, but my Arctis Pro Wireless headset broke after right around a year of gentle use. A quick visit to Reddit revealed there's a common point of breakage and it's on multiple models of the Arctis. I'd really like to know if the Nova Pro fixed that. Steelseries replacement experience is not super great, when there was a feature malfunction on my Apex Pro keyboard, they asked me to cut its cord it in return for a voucher to buy a replacement from their site. But they were out of stock, so I would have had no keyboard for weeks to months.

I just got this headset about a week after this video came out and thought I bricked the headset after doing a update. Lucky for me, that didn't happen but updating the headset seems to be a little tricky. The software would act as if the update had completed but then would show a update was still there and as it turned out, the software seemed to just bail on the update soon after it started. I had to make multiple attempts before the update fully worked and I was able to turn the headset on again.

So I have the pro wireless and here are my 3 complaints / wanted upgrades. Hope Harris does a follow up about 2 and 3 for this new headset, since they're pretty widely known at this point. 1. I don't use the mic or mute button at all, so I'd love a version that just doesn't have them. 2. The dac uses an OLED screen with UI elements always visible, so naturally those elements burned into the screen after about a year. It's not that bad, but it's annoying for a premium product to damage itself by design. 3. The battery low indicator doesn't come on until literally 5 minutes before the battery dies. This one is the closest to a real problem, as you don't always have a free minute to hotswap batteries when you need to.

  • @mcbrite

    1. You must be the only person that NEVER uses the mic, so no, why would they ever make a GAMING headset without mic. That makes zero sense... 2. Couldn't care less... Had burn in on my one, never cared... Once you set it up right, you never use it anyways... 3. It wasn't 5 minutes, but they could maybe lengthen it a little bit... I heard on this headset the connection won't even drop, if you swap the battery quicker than 8 seconds and that IS a huge improvement!
