@Pete Peter Most likely not, I’m sure they went over this one with a fine tooth comb before they even sent it to him make sure there were zero issues and zero defects. It’s all a roll of the dice when you buy something off the store shelves whether you’re going to get a lemon or not. There’s a myriad of factors that come into play.

I just received their litefighter 2 about two weeks ago and it had two holes at the top of the tent body. They contacted me the next day after I sent them an email, shipped out a new litefighter 2 and sent a return shipping label for the damaged one. They were super friendly, helpful and apologetic. They were a pleasure to deal with and gave me zero issues with making things right. I love the tent and really look forward to using it in april.

My favorite form of "customer service" is not having to contact them at all, i.e., a non-defective product that works as advertised. When anyone praises a company's "excellent customer service", one can read between the lines.

Imagine finding out that you received the faulty piece when you´re camping and you get soaked. This is a shelter that´s supposed to protect you from elements, to keep you warm and most of all dry. Not only your plans could go to hell when your tent is leaking, but your life could be in danger. If a hoodie gets bad seems OK, when sunglasses loose a screw OK. Backpack having loose threads, as long as it holds the gear and the straps are fine OK. But a tent leaking that´s absolutely unacceptable. Company that wouldn´t respond, should be sued.

I purchased a Eureka Sentinal 4 season tent in 1985. It also weighed 10 lbs and was a roomy 2 person tent. It went through several BWCA winter trips in northern Minnesota with the coldest being -17 F. It didn't have a liner and was a little frosty inside in the morning with 2 people inside. The Litefighter would be an awesome tent for those conditions. As a few of the comments below, they keep coming out with this nice stuff and I'm too old to use it.

It's a 2 person tent, meaning that if 2 people go out, one carries the tent, the other carries the kitchen and food. By splitting the load equally, this is an easy carry for two healthy individuals. Going it alone, I would not carry it, for obvious reasons. Glad to see the company responded to the issues and fixed them. Cheers from Winnipeg. (Where winter camping, really is winter camping. LOL)

Luc, before we built our semi permanent shelter I purchased Canadian Army Surplus very similar to this one your testing. The poles are not exposed, and it's received a bit of punishment and survived. With the temps that drop down to up here, we found it to be very comfortable.

I am very appreciative of the test. However, on the previous night's test, it appeared to be a freezing rain or at least freezing temps. This test is under the condition of a wet rain without the possibility of freezing temps. Which bring me to: The lower temps and standing ice would have caused the tent to shrink -- thus causing areas to stretch (maybe seams). So, I would like to understand how this tent performs in the same (similar no official way) with freezing temps. Just being honest. I love Litefighter Systems gear and own a lot of it, AND will continue to buy their product just for their AMAZING customer service! Thanks again ODR and LS! Keep doing the great things you do, you are truly an inspiration!

In my opinion, there is a need for a universal design of a lightweight fly for internal and external frame 4 season tents. All tents will wear with time and there is a need for a fail safe backup for moisture resistance and ventilation. It could be used as a vestibule for smaller tents. My question is, why isn't there? I have been tenting for over 50 years and before then in scouts and 4H and as a ad lib camping country kid. You need to be prepared for failure; if not, you are preparing to fail. We expected some failures and prepared for them. We made ash bark leantos and even them brought a large WW2 US Army canvas just in case.

I am done with snow for this year. At one point we had a 21" base and every day for 17-days it snowed a min. of 1". Usually 2 to 3-inches. NE PA. was hit hard with snow this year but milder temps. Snow, NO NO NO! LOL

@@UguysRnuts if he is it doesn't matter to me. If he was a bs artist I'd assume every product would be foolproof. I just dont trust a company that has much to loose with these reviews. So I'm assuming they cherry picked that tent after inspecting it and sent it to him. I think, for better authenticity, he should have bought another one.

The external poles could be a very good feature. Extra attaching points for extreme wind or covering it with an extra shell/tarp creating another extra layer for winter contitions. Of course making an extra fitted outer layer could be difficult at home. Tha factory could do it if tha market needs it.

Luke, do you know what the individual weights of the poles, rain fly and tent body are? I wouldn’t want to pack this tent on a solo adventure but if you could split the weight with a partner maybe it would be doable as a backpacking tent? Thank you for the info update!

Go back and watch his videos... there is no "fly" that is separate, or that you could leave off. It's permanently attached, which is why you can set it up in rain and the inside will stay dry. (Edit) - My bad. Apparently I need to go back and watch the videos again. I think the Fly can be removed, I just forgot. Went on their site to get notified when more are in stock and was reading the description, so I am wrong.

I like the idea of this tent, but it is very heavy and lacks a stovejack. I may just wind up going with a teepee tent because they can be gotten down to half the weight and are much easier for one person to assemble. Plus they have the advantage that, due to their shape, they are effectively immune to snow loading.
