Did the Owners Just VANISH? Forgotten and Abandoned Resort!
Ойын-сауық
Yoga Resort
If you know what this motel is called or where it is, please keep it to yourself. There are people out there who would love to go to a place like this to either trash it or steal things.
This is one of those locations that really had no information about it anywhere that I could find. I was unable to find out why or when it closed but I suspect it may have been around 2018 since there was a calendar hanging on the wall from that year. It didn't have particularly bad reviews, they were all about average.
Upon walking into the hotel, it looked as though they had left everything behind, about half of the rooms were still set up and almost ready for the next guest that never came. There were bed linens and pillows piled in the recreational room along a pool table, air hockey and foosball tables. The dining room had its tables and chairs still set up and even had table numbers sitting atop as if they were preparing for an event.
Near the front door were some tools and supplies, outside a small pile of brand new shingles. It seemed as though they had begun to renovate the motel or at the very least repairing the things of most importance. With the outdoor swimming pool looking very green, I wonder, where did the owners go, did they just vanish?

That's exactly how places like this close. One day the workers show up to work, and there's is padlocks on the doors with signs saying closed. It's happened to me a few times. The employee is always the last to know. It really is a fine balance keeping a big place like this open and thriving, the up keep cost is huge! And like a lot of these older resorts, the people that once use to come kind of age out and stop coming. Without customers, there's no money to do the badly needed improvements, so places like this succumb to time
@StaticSpaces

Oh most definitely, hotels have a lot of overhead and if anything happens that changes the number of customers, it can have long lasting effects. Thank you very much for your comments!!
Interesting🤓 You wonder why people say how wasteful we are. You’d think the tables, chairs, bed frames, stuff like that could have been sold in big lots. Once the mold starts everything is ruined. I don’t know if you were alone, but it was kinda creepy in there. Thanks James. Stay safe
@StaticSpaces

Ya, there may have been extenuating circumstances and who knows, maybe they will return one day to finish the renovations. I was with a friend but i didn't find it very creepy, but more relaxing and exciting. Maybe it's because I have been doing this a long time. Thanks for the comment CK!!

I have seen this one before and it still makes me laugh. Once you get up to the 1st level of rooms they have ramps for people with mobility issues but in order to get into the building you have to climb stairs and when you get inside you need to go up more stairs to get to the check-in desk. No wonder they closed, the layout isn't the smartest.

seen this place about 2yrs ago from another explorer but there seems to be a bit more stuff in the lobby area now. those coiled nails at the entrance is for a roofing air nailer and i see roof vents so there might be roof renovations started at some time , not a lot has changed still nice to see new footage, yes that was a can opener in the kitchen area.

Ya, there are a couple other people that have been there in the past. There were also shingles outside so i do think they were going to replace or at least first parts of the roof. There were only like 3 flats so they wouldn't have gone very far! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comment!!
😂I like the intro.. I love those orange retro basket chairs (1972 Solair chairs). That place may have been nice in its' day, but it's pretty much done unless someone wants to sink in a load of money. Such a waste of so much stuff.... sad
@StaticSpaces

Glad you enjoyed that intro. I agree with you, the hotel industry is a pretty big waste of resources but thats because they have to upgrade the decor like every ten years. I would imagine everything they replace gets thrown into the garbage. Personally, i would prefer a retro hotel to a modern one, as long as it was clean that is! Thanks for the comment!!

Interesting place and nice find. Like some others have said the block work is quite depressing and prison/hospital like. Whole hotel has a cheap DIY feel about it but even this basic place has enormous running costs, it's mind boggling what it would take to rebuild or renovate to a higher standard in 2023 and make it a viable business. Feel sorry for the people working hard to run places like this yet get snowed under with rising costs.
@StaticSpaces
Жыл бұрын
Ya, a lot of schools have this same type of construction in this area and TBH i have always hated it. Lol You are absolutely right though, it's a tough business to make it in, especially when they have the added costs of costly renovations or a complete rebuild. Thanks for the comment!!
Hi James! Interesting place. The furniture definitely could have been given to charity or something. Think those older wooden chairs were nicer than the ones they had sitting out which just looked cheap and boring 😂 At least the wooden chairs had a bit of character to them. The big boxy TVs in the rooms were surprising to see if it only closed in 2018. Definitely seemed like the place needed updating.

I wonder if this resort was seasonal and they were trying to renovate during the off season and ran out of cash. Also, the cement brick walls give it more of a prison vibe!
@StaticSpaces
Жыл бұрын
You could be right about that but they may come back to it one day to finish the job, who knows. I completely agree with you about the cinder block walls. A lot of the larger buildings, such as schools and libraries were built this way in the mid 1900s in this area. I have always found them depressing, almost like you said, feeling like a prison. But that is the unfortunate reality of Canada, we are not known for our architecture, with a few exceptions of course! Thanks for the comment Matthew!!
